You don't need to worry about the USB if it is bigger than 8gig. You can just delete the entire partition and create a new partition with the size you need or want from your disk manager. If you need 8gig just set the partition to that size and do a quick format on it.

Don't get your iStep updated or you will lose this, and the ability to update via USB.

This is 100% correct at the moment. A solution is being looked into.

I have downloaded bimmercode but that field is not there in the Demo mode. Do I need to order an ODB dongle and actually connect to my car to see this? The best dongle they listed as supported is from Germany (in Euros). Seems too much of a hassle. What dongles do you guys use/recommend? Don't want to spend too much on this experiment. This happens when I enable it. (just get a grey box instead of the full screen) I've tried resetting everything, unpairing and re-pairing, no luck. |

I can confirm what articulatedsphinx found above: using Bimmercode and coding “CarPlay fullscreen’’ to aktiv, results in a white/grey box on the right 1/3 of the display

Seems like we are missing a piece of the puzzle. Unfortunately I don’t have carplay to test it out on, as my car doesn’t have connected drive. Sorry guys/gals.

Unfortunately it's not as simple as 1 FDL coding item.

Yeah, so word from the grapevine is that BMW is actively seeking to prevent USB coding, specifically that which relies on blackbox sistemi/hutool. This is partly related to revenue protection, but also system integrity.
The new update can brick the headunit if you have had certain programming done due to CRC checks, the old one which if replaced under warranty, is sent to BMW for analysis. Like I said before don't update your Istep if you are worried about this. Last edited by articulatedsphinx; 12-09-2018 at 09:11 AM.. |
