First impressions...

After 300Km here are some thoughts/ impressions regarding my M2C HS 6MT:
  • When you select the basic audio system (albeit with HK tweeters, mid speakers and metal grills, installed at the dealer before pickup) you get “no ASD” for free (My guess is that it has to do with the ASD amp being used solely for audio) oh... and there is no center speaker behind the iDrive screen as well. Anyway, audio quality is good enough for me as is.
  • The EU spec M2C feels very subdued, both in looks and exhaust note (from the inside, at least), which makes me look (too?) mature and not very “M”ish. I’ll probably look into replacing the exhaust with an Akrapovic, later down the line.
  • ’Still not sure I like HS...
  • I’m probably in minority but for the moment I’m having fun with the rev-matching function (I’m not very good at heel & toe downshifting... at least with electronic accelerators and their different sensitivity levels).
  • I find the M2C’s power quite ample (for the lack of a better word) but not overwhelming, which I guess is good safety wise (I always drive in Sport or Sport + and rain seems to be a constant here in the Azores)
  • Feels more comfortable over bumps and poor tarmac than my previous car (a stock Z4 E89 sDrive 20i)...
  • Most BimmerCode ECU modules are greyed out (front electronic module, advanced crash safety...) on the current iteration of the M2C ECU (for my country?), so I can’t code “Auto start stop off by default” or “Radio Shut OFF with door open”
  • The CarPlay option isn’t available in Portugal and for the moment the “Activation of CarPlay FSC by VIN code file” web options don’t work for my map spec either (thank you BMW )

Yup, weird. Maybe it’s an ECU update (I just got the car last Wednesday) that BimmerCode still hasn’t taken into account or a region/ country issue. If there isn’t something new (updated app) from BimerCode soon I guess I’ll have to delve into E-sys...

Just got his reply: “...the missing ECUs will be available for you with the next app update. The app is just missing the necessary data at the moment.”

Since the original knee rest was pointless for my driving position I bought (and just installed) the Bimmer Masterpieces alternative, with the added bonus of... more blue stitching!
