Edit: On a separate note, I'm curious about the exhaust setup on the S55 M2 in that video |

That "not enough cooling" in the M2C is BS. It has the same exact setup as the M4.
They didn't want it to outshine the M4 CS, so the sales people could say "Oh, the M4 has more power, blah, blah.. " Yea, if you read between the lines, they do want to axe the manual.. I believe the 50% take rate in the M2 saved its bacon for the next generation M2. |

Sorry for my “mechanical” ignorance, but the M2 Competition press release says:
“In order to ensure extremely precise wheel location, play-free ball joints are used to transmit transverse forces. The longitudinal forces passing through the chassis are transmitted into the torque struts directly via special elastomer bearings, which simultaneously delivers the desired rolling comfort. All the control arms and wheel carriers of the new five-link rear axle are made from forged aluminium. In addition, a racing-derived rigid connection, dispensing with rubber bushings, is used to fix the lightweight steel grid-type rear axle subframe to the body. This further improves wheel location and tracking stability.” Given that dampers and springs are the same as the OG M2, can you help me understand if: 1) play-free ball joints are new or already present in the OG M2? 2) five-link rear axle has something new (namely being fabricated in aluminum) or is it the same as the OG M2? 3) racing-derived rigid connection dispensing rubber bushings is a “premier” of the competition or already a OG M2 feature? Thanks for your clarification! |
