Tag described HS as “bipolar” and I have to agree....

In the early photos the car often had that “primer” look to it...or “milky” as Scott26 described it under Munich overcast skies...although in some photos you would see the metallic flakes, and think it would really have a beautiful pearlescent hue under the right light, which the latest photos confirm...

I ended up ordering LBB but looking at these latest photos have had second thoughts...if it weren’t for the fact my car just went into production I would be seriously tempted to switch to HS!

The funny thing is that it may be a long time before you see HS in the flesh. Around 550 allocations this quarter in the U.S. and the color poll suggests a little less than half will be HS. So perhaps 225-250 examples driving around by late this year. Hoping to see one in the wild soon - should be stunning!

Are you planning on cleaning your car daily? Can you live with swirls all over within weeks? If not, I wouldn't think too long -> HS

Yes. Infuriating. The optional wheel is the standard wheel in 100% of marketing material. The standard wheel is yet to be seen. The “black” wheel isn’t black. The dealer thinks the optional wheel is the standard wheel. It’s what could termed a cluster f#ck. Or customer deception in legal terms.

I don't think this benefits BMW. It's so confusing about what we're seeing and whether its standard or optional, that it's hard for anyone to get upsold without having more information.

If you are showing people one thing and selling them something else then it’s pretty clear.

They haven't come out and said anything yet. Which is the big criticism I'd have - the lack of information.

It benefits BMW financially to explain this is the cost option, otherwise some people are going to assume its the free wheel, when they may otherwise have been happy to pay for it. Confusion will only hurt BMW's bottom line.

Yes, that’s the main issue. But let’s say the dealer confirmed that these are the wheels you are getting. Add to that all product images show this as what you are getting. There’s s a “black” wheel option mentioned but it looks nothing like the marketing images so it’s obvious the optional wheel isn’t the one in the photos. The car turns up and they aren’t the wheels you ordered. Now we get into a very bad customer experience.

In this light, to me HS looks very similar to Mineral White. That is not a bad thing. I get lots of compliments on my MW/Coral M235i and I haven't regretted it for one minute. I chose LBB this time. As they say variety....

That photo is very illustrative...left fender is white, the hood silvery, and right fender gray. Really dynamic under oblique lighting conditions!

Geographic location might be a consideration with HS. The car in a place like Seattle will have a different character than say LA or Phoenix.

Yep, it's like looking at a lake. Blue sky blue lake, grey sky dull lake.
