The setting only exists in iDrive6 in the 2018+ models, I assume, because my 2018 has it.

I was trying to figure out why you'd want full screen until I picked up my Tesla Model 3 last night and popped it in reverse. Wow!

It is a little disappointing. My M235i had a full screen backup display installed by Car Toys. It definitely was much nicer than the stock M2 1/2 screen.

I have to echo the OP's claim. I too used to have full screen.
MY17 week 30 build. My guess is something changed with one of the istep updates...just like how I once used to be able to scroll around the nav map by simply swiping my finger on the touch pad. Loved that feature...😔 |

I can swear my camera is like that right now too. I took it to BMW and they said this is considered normal operation and not a fault of the vehicle. I pretty much doubt that because I do not remembering that it was like this when I bought the car this year, 2018 model 330i. Anyone know the fix, please let me know!

Split Screen Woes, revisited!
I know I'm a bit late to chime in on this thread, but my backup camera was working perfectly well on full-screen view--and then one day--*poof*!! Split screen. I swear I didn't change a thing to cause it and I haven't been able to get it back to full screen yet, either!

BMW corporate and two local dealers said this split screen was normal (even thought I thought I remembered it being full screen too). They said the full screen appears only if you have the 360 degree camera which I do not have.

Ok I bought a used 2017 M2 yesterday (absolutely love it!) and when I put it in reverse I absolutely noticed that the camera was full screen and there was nothing else on the screen (coming from a 328i) and thought that was fantastic. I reset the user profiles to erase the old owner stuff when I went to add my phone and all of a sudden the backup camera is not full screen anymore. I searched all over the net and see similar threads to this without a solution. Anyone ever figure out a fix? My iDrive is showing telephone and media versions 006.0017.006
Edit: Now that I'm looking around, iDrive seems to not have a ton of the stuff that used to annoy me and there are cool features that I didn't know about in the car. I'm thinking this was coded with Bimmercode? Is there a code in there for full screen reverse cam? Last edited by oclor; 01-20-2020 at 01:05 PM.. |
