Would anyone have the part number for the N55 mid pipe, also what is the cost @ a U.S. dealership for this mid pipe?

Is there welding involved? Or is this a direct replacement?

Won't get cheaper than that. It is exactly what I can get it for.

Is either of the following possible:

1. Modify the 1M mid pipe to somehow get rid of the drone, or

2. Are there any compatible mid pipes out there that a) have secondary cats and b) don't drone?

It's hard to imagine that our options are so limited.

Would effect a "tail sniff", but even in IL they don't do that anymore; has NO effect on anything else because aft of all other emissions equipment; if worst came to worst and you flunked such a test, could just swap out to OEM and be back in a heartbeat with a set of cats that are fresh as daisies!

Aren't the gains minimal with the N55 pipe as compared to something like MadDad? Just curious why the need to replace the stock pipe if the result isn't all that noticeable.

I sure hope this is a direct replacement guys

Just left my dealer, part is ordered and in transit from Jacksonville. The parts department rep. was very helpful and warned me that the system did not show the N55 part to fit on an N54 motor. Obviously this is normal correct? But the part does in fact fit? I sure hope so as my dealer charged me $441.23 after tax : / Is this really a simple no-weld-required swap out? I know I have already pulled the trigger but peace of mind would be nice...

Yes, it is a simple plug and play swap. They bolts up. The reason why BMW says they are not applicable is bc they don't have the secondary cats!

I would recommend you to buy new exhaust gaskets (two up front and one in the rear) and also new spring bolts for the rear part. The bolts tend to break when R&R-ing them. Adds like $60 in parts.

you will need...

#2 & #11
(2) 18307553603 gaskets
(1) 18117553130 gasket/ring

#12 & #13
bolts & springs
(2) 18307790610 spring
(2) 18307561670 bolts

That's awesome, thanks for the peace of mind! I opted out of new gaskets and bolts :/. I will have order those on Monday, no big deal(I like doing things right the first time, striving for perfection can make you sick sometimes; but I am learning to cope. could always be worse. Thanks again!

FYI those bolts without the springs run between $5 a piece to $25 a piece depending which dealer you talk to.

I thought the gains are identical to MD mids (roughly 10 hp). My car is definately more responsive (in limp mode I sometimes chk to make sure I'm not driving around in traffic in M mode) As for sound... There is definitely a difference; ESP above 3k rpm.

Do you go into limp mode often?

Limp mode should be taken as non-M mode. Sorry for the confusion

Today My local dealer told to wait with the switch to N55 mid pipe, said it could trigger fault codes for incorrect back pressure that would take away the engine guarantee. Isn't this the case when you switch the DPs but not for the mid pipe?
