Question Too Old...Winter Tires?

How old is too old??? I've read some say no go after 5...6...even 10yrs??

I purchased a winter setup last year from a member. There's still plenty of tread for one more season:
Fronts 8.5/32
Rears 7.5/32

But the DOT is going on 7yrs for the fronts 4312 and 5yrs for the rears 2914.
Not sure how they were stored...constant temp...UV light...?

So what do you think...one more season or trash?
Or if someone wants to buy them, I can use the money to justify buying a new set

I would say too old. Personally i wouldn't run anything over 5 years from the manufacture date.

I believe most ppl say tire life is 5-6 year from the manufacture date.

I just finished off a set of winter tires on my Mini last year that were used for eight winters. Zero signs of dry rotting, cracking, etc. Tread depth was no longer useable so it was time for a new set.

As long as the tires are in good condition (i.e., no dry rotting or cracking) then I’d say you’ll be fine.

If money is not a problem, don't risk it. Safety first.

Don't risk it. I know it's pricey to get a set at times but don't compromise your safety. I got a set of ion wheels and toyo tires after 3 years of using the stock set I have.
