BMW (underseat?) fire extingisher? Anyone have it?
I was looking this up with several reports of engine fires I have seen lately (in my local general BMW group) and found the following part:
52109496756 The price seems ok when compared to others (yes, simple generic one in the trunk would be cheaper) but this one intrigues me. Its very compact AND appears to have a bracket that mounts under and on the front of the passenger side seat? 1. Does anyone have this and can recommend it? My local dealership says Germany only, and not allowed to even order it. Schmiedmann will get me around that if so, and price is decent. 2. Does this actually attach to the seat frame? 3. If no and no.. does anyone have a better recommendation for one that does? Thanks!

$152 for a $25 fire extinguisher with a BMW part number. Sounds about right.

^^^This is what I have also. Super compact, and non-damaging if you have to use it.

Thanks yall, absolutely will check that out, as is something entirely new to me. Guessing it puts out an inert gas, chokes out the oxygen so any fire goes out?

In the past (E36 and E46-time) the seat bracket (with hardware included) was a separate part number from the extinguisher (with BMW printed on it). I ordered both many years ago from a Euro parts place. IIRC, I paid around $125 in total. |

Fire extinguisher option
There are many options for fire suppression in vehicles. Unless you need a BMW logo for some reason, this is a really strong, versatile solution:
http://https://www.teambgb.com/Rennline-Fire-Extinguisher-and-Mount-Package-p/fe04-h3r.htm It’s not cheap, but all things considered, it could save your insurance company some $$$ in the event of a fire.

I don't think the Element can be beat for an automotive application (barring a full on suppression system) for many reasons.
Have been looking at this bracket along with the Element Quick Fist mount: https://www.bkauto.com/R_2225_BMW_Fi...t_p/r-2225.htm https://elementfire.com/collections/...avy-duty-mount Hopefully it won't take much to marry the two together and have an effective/out of the way solution. |

In my case just a sense of paranoia lately.. not seen a car fire for years, and I have seen two in the last week.

I have one in my car because I've witnessed the horror of somebody who's car HAS caught fire and nothing they can do about it. It isn't uncommon for a hot exhaust to light dry grass underneath if you pull off someplace, and there are occasional mechanical failures. I prefer carrying one to waiting until I've had a car catch fire to get one. The $250 Porsche version is a bit much though.

Yes, sort of - I think it is an oxygen-starving reaction that shuts down combustion; it is a non-flammable dry chem, not a gas canister. Says it works on all kinds of fires. They come in a larger 100-second size too. And they are also PCA approved for HPDE, but only if you buy the ones with the custom titanium handles or the white gold bracketry . https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/30...67154874779486 |

https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...diagId=03_1158 You need to order the shorter seat adjuster handles too. (If you have manual seats like I do) |

M2C under seat fire extinguisher
I installed this one from H3R performance. Very happy with it. Easy install and the extinguisher does not get in the way of passengers.
