2NH M Sport Brakes & M Performance Parts Brakes: bigger and ± 16 kg / 35 lbs extra
The 2NH "M Sport Brake" and the M Performance Parts "BMW M Compound Brake Discs of the BMW M Sports Brake System Red" are identical, except for the caliper color (silver for the 2NH and red for the MPP) (see Q&A here). The brake kit can be retrofitted on M2, M2 LCI and M2 Competition.
M2 Competition 2NH brakes feature the F8x carbon ceramic brake’s calipers (F&R) with 400mm/380mm steel rotors. And the F10 M5 standard brake’s front calipers are the same as F8x CCB front calipers. Standard M2/M2C brakes (blue) (source: see here):

They should be. Canada got a 9% increase with the new seats, wheels, brakes standard. Along with adaptive led. All signs point to US Competition not getting adaptive led as standard. If the US msrp is indeed 58,900, a 8% increase. That would be right inline where the increase should be without adaptive led. Standard 2NH brakes would explain a portion of the weight gained over M2.

The upgrade of m2 cs is no sense.
I try ccb on the m4 in Monza circuit compared with iron brake and the difference is enormous. This new brake are just add of weight, lost of tire size (18 inch) and no more than half lap of durability. Talking of road use will be worst for noise and more fuel consumption. Basically a waste of money. A real upgrade was if they develope with Brembo a small ccb system, lighter and with 18inch rims |

Stock brakes: Stock front caliper 4,89 kg, disc 11,29 kg. Rear caliper 3,6 kg, disc 9,25 kg Option front caliper 7,54 kg, disc approximately 13,8 kg. Rear caliper 4,3 kg, disc approximately 11,3 kg. (https://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1307736) If my assumptions are correct, it all adds up to 15-16 kg of unsprung mass. I am considering not to add this option… |

Ccb are -13,5, the difference is very high! 27/30 kg so no sense to spend more money for increasing of weight and maybe half lap of more resistance on the track. After that spend 10000 dollars for carbon parts to go at same weight. This m performance pack is a fake!!! |

I am rather hoping they are an option, not standard, because I would pass on them.
But I also want a solid gold toilet, and I have to acknowledge that some things just aren't in the cards...

they ask for money for "new" fake brakes that increase weight of 15 kg, a lot for a very similar performance and then they ask for 10000/15000 usd of carbon parts to reduce 15 kg weight. Anyone can understand that is absolutely crazy. If you have a budget of 10000 usd you buy ccb and reduce weight of 13,5 where part of this are not suspended parts. You have the best brake ever and you can also make track days. That's it. all the carbon parts are no sense waste of money and ccb are not available Oem. Crazy management |

Stupid question. If the calipers are from the CCB's and the discs share the same hat dimensions, can you just replace the steel discs and pads with the CCB parts? Or is the piston and seals + master cylinder different when running CCB's.
Obviously this may be cost prohibitive but you should be able to offload the oem discs for a good price if near new.

Ok, extra weight. But let's also talk about functionality: how improved is their braking capacity ? Many reported that track guys prefer steel brakes over CCB's (some Porsche guys even taking off the CCB's from their track cars).
Normal brake pads don't squeak/squeal. The optional track race pads do. Do these new 2NH silver sport brakes / red M Performance brakes come stock with the 'normal' brake pads or do these come with those noisy race pads ?

From the threads I read a while ago they were replacing due to cost. The CCB's didn't get the life expectancies drivers were hoping for.
