Eh? No need to pull that off. I think you are taking the wrong hose off!
Maybe you broke something in the process? The hose just slips off, no clips or anything. Pic of hose in question.? |

I'm 100% sure I got the right hose. It's the same one as the above pics posted by others. But here's the hose. I've circled the clips some of which broke off and I've indicated the other regular tabs with circles. (The clips are placed in between the tabs)

Ok I've found confirmation of these tabs which will inevitably break in the installation guide from the Turner Motorsport catch can:

Weird, that hose connector just pulled straight off on mine. Dont recall any tabs breaking?
Maybe canada has a different hose clip? Anyhow, i'm just posting up fitting pictures as I emptied & cleaned out my OCC yesterday... Last edited by doughboy; 08-18-2019 at 04:43 AM.. |

After 3000 miles I took off the OCC and cleaned it out yesterday, a fair bit of nasty stuff and gunge came out, stripped it down to clean it all out with alcohol including the internal baffle / condenser which needs to be clean.
No good just empyting the bowl IMO, it all needs cleaning up. Anyhow, a 20 minute job all in and for me a worthwhile investment Wiping the inside of the vent hose from the OCC to the intake tract is completely dry and oil free Last edited by doughboy; 08-18-2019 at 05:46 AM.. |

Did the same exact set up with positioning as far away from the cooling line as possible and a foam pad to protect the corner where it touches. Call me lazy but also added a drain valve system to make emptying a little easier. Hoping not to have to take it down to clean out the baffle system for a while not because it's a difficult job but I hate handling that brittle PCV hose which becomes more brittle with more miles.

I did my 25K Oil Change but did not chk it.
I have my last 30K BMW oil change coming up. I'll check it then. Should be after some High Load/boost driving at a test & Tune and 1 track day

I had a BMS OCC in my N55 435i and got an unbelievable amount of junk out of it every time I checked it. This is at the top of my list for the F87, and just seems logical.

For my N55 m2 there is zero blow by, like I took off the turbo inlet where the PCV hose connects to and it was nearly dry (only one small streak of very clean oil without much condesation and fuel contamination to turn it to sludge). The turbo outlet was the same. I suspect some cars might have poorer piston ring tolerances that could lead to more blow by in this scenario. Also the BMS oil catch can did not fit for me.

Also this is why I always recommend that the break in procedure be taken seriously to avoid wearing the piston rings more than they need to be, due to the cross hatches on the cylinders being still very defined and not yet smoothed down on a brand new car. This can cause excessive piston ring wear if you beat on a new car, so when the break in is done those piston rings can't seal as well as they should.

I'm about to go in for my 30K Oil Change and thought I'd check the Catch Can.
It was half full of a oily water condensation mixture...Mostly water. When I spun off the top quite a bit of fluid came out of the can. I forgot to check it at my 25K Oil Change and I've been doing a lot of full throttle pulls to redline recording data for Cary Jordan to finish my tune. At all my previous inspections there was almost nothing in the can. Once I put in the steel wool at the 20K oil change I think it helped trap the water vapor before it was recycled back thru the emissions loop.
