IND has some 50th Anniversary Classic M Roundels for the G80 M3, X3/X5, and X3M/X5M. I think they are importing them special, since they aren't in stock at BMW Parts Warehouses in the US.

https://g80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...ht=ind%2C+50th

IND has an awesome paint shop, and we are hoping they can paint the 50th Anniversary Classic M Roundels to replace the white with black or dark blue that looks incredible on most BMW paint colors.

Patience Grasshopper...Kung Fu.

They were due in the US in June 2022, but it looks like July/August. BMWPartsPros has them listed for pre-order, but some of the fitment info is incorrect. In general the hood is 82mm and the turn is 72mm. Larger BMWs have 82mm roundels for both the hood/trunk.

There are wheel hub center caps for cars with a 5 x 112mm bolt pattern, like the G8X M3/M4. Word is there will not be any floating center cap versions. Older BMWs use a 5 x 120mm bolt pattern...not sure if the 50th Anniversary Classic M will be made to fit older BMWs.

Cheers
Correction. The trunk roundel on the M2(C) is 74 mm not 72 mm.

The details on this rear emblem are below:
Product ID: 51-14-8-087-196
Description: Replace the traditional BMW roundel on the vehicle's rear trunk lid with BMW's 50th anniversary roundel.
SIZE: 74mm
This price is only for the rear trunk lid roundel.
1506
COMPATIBLE WITH MULTIPLE MODELS:
-E90-93 - 3 Series/M3
-F30/F31 - 3 Series
-F32/F33/F36- 4 Series
-F22/F23 - 2 Series
-F87 - M2/ F87 LCI - M2/ F87 - M2 CS
-F80 - M3
-G20 - 3 Series/M340i
-G30 - 530i/540i/M550ix/ G30 LCI - 530/540/M550
-F90 - M5/ F90 LCI - M5/ F90 LCI - M5 CS
-G32 - 6 Series GT
-E39 - X2/X2 M235ix

Not sure if the fitment above is correct. The photo above shows a light green tab for an adhesive backing, in addition to the usual pins. My front roundel on a E9X M3, just has two pins and no adhesive. You can destroy your paint if you don't think the roundel uses an adhesive, but it does. Heat Gun/Blow Dryer Time.

I am interested, since the 194/196 PNs are the hood/trunk 82/74 mm roundels for an E9X M3, that I own, plus many other older BMW models. 189/196 for an F3X.

Cheers

The 196 was the correct rear roundel for my trunk on my M2.

By the way I didn’t have to use a heat gun. The rear roundel in held by two pins and no double back tape. The replacement has both the pins and tape.

Looks great. Did you have to break off pins on yours also?

Yup.. snipped the locking pins/tabs off and shaved them down low. I will have a DIY video for it but most enthusiasts here won't need it.

Thanks for the answer. I asked because in the Japanese video that someone attached she got a roundel without pins. Mine had pins like yours.

I posted that I was going to order these months ago, and then I found out they were not available until now. I received several comments that my 2021 was NOT an anniversary year edition/model. My comment was nowhere does the logo say it is a Model Year specific logo, its a 50th anniversary M Logo/Roundel and my car is an M car, so is my 1991 E34 M5, and I would proudly install a set on either of them!!!
My point is, I would NOT look at this like those who stick an ///M logo in front of the 318 on their e36 trunklid. This is totally different, its celebrating ///M, and these certainly are, and will be, legendary Motorsport models in the future. Just my $0.02,

Obviously I agree with you. Just like BMWCCA is selling 50th ///M anniversary T-shirts. They are celebrating 50 years of M not 2022 M models.

I have the roundels on my 2018 M2. It is a real M car and there is no reason why I shouldn’t display them.

Nonsense, these are the classic Motorsport roundels (from 1973), that have been re-branded as "50th Anniversary roundels".

These have been used by BMW enthusiasts over the years (using high quality knock offs), for example:

https://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=847510
https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1594210
many others...

Just because it's now an option on 2022 M cars, does not mean it's not applicable for any other BMW (preferably M cars) if you prefer the old school look of the classic Motorsport roundel.

I agree, they are OEM badges celebrating something, they can go on any car.

Now will a 2022 car with these from factory eventually be looked at as a special thing? maybe but if you have an M car and like the way these look then ya should put em on the car. Hell if someone with a non M car likes the way they look they should also put em on who cares

I was right there with you until the last sentence. I think these would be best on "true" M cars and those with the M sports packages or M appearance packages. Does that make sense? I will NOT bust on anyone who chooses to adorn their BMW with one of these, but for me personally, I would feel fine putting one on either my M2C or M5, and perhaps my 330ci ZHP in Imola Red, a color that was only available on the e46 if you ordered the performance package option. Non of my others would I consider. That's just me.....

so would it be ok on a m240?

What about a 128 with m sport package?

Where is the line crossed because neither the m240 or the 128 are m cars and really are just adorned with m logos to sell more of them but I doubt the M division even touched either.

To me if someone likes the badge and puts it on their 328 and makes them happy so be it. For some reason I don't see this as up badging (which I think is silly but hey its their car so they can do whatever they want with it)

I think it is best on a real M car since it celebrates 50 years of M. It also is an update to the old motor sport logo which was primarily used on 1973 M1.

Using a jack hammer to install the 50th Anniversary Classic M Roundels...HaHa. Paddleshifterz will be producing a comprehensive video with all the PNs and rear mounting options. Some vendors will provide manual verification of roundel fitment to older BMW E/F-Platforms.

IND might be able to paint the roundels, so the white is replaced by black or dark blue. Fingers crossed. It would look better on dark colored ///M cars.

Try the matching wheel center caps. But BMW will only make them for 5 x 112mm bolt patterns on newer BMWs. Older BMWs use a 5 x 120mm bolt patterns. No floaters.

Cheers

PS Stefan, someone left a F8X M3/M4 carbon fiber curved strut tower brace in your M2 engine bay. Sick.

Confused.. the M2C has one by default? Caffeine wearing off.. what did I miss?

HaHa My mistake. I didn't realize BMW screwed up the M2 product line so badly

M2 Boy Racer has a tuned N55 3.0L non-M engine and no CFRP brace

M2 Competition/M2 CS have a S55 3.0L M engine with a curved strut tower brace from the M3/M4. The M2/M2C are a generation behind in not using the S58 M3/M4 and X3M M engine...S58 is comings soon in 2023.

Some owners try to retrofit the curved carbon fiber M3/M4 strut tower brace to other BMW cars.

Cheers

The correct BMW F87 M2/M2C/M2CS 50th Anniversary Classic M Roundels PNs are:

82mm Hood
51148087189 (no pins/adhesive)

74mm Trunk
51148087196 (2 pins/adhesive)

Since both roundels use adhesive be extra careful removing the old BMW badges to avoid damaging the paint. Mask the area and use finishing line. Clean with Goo Gone.

50th Anniversary Classic M Roundel Wheel Center Caps are 5 x 112mm only
36125A57484

NOTE: The BMW F87 M2/M2C/M2CS uses wheels with a 5 x 120mm bolt pattern. SOL
Think about aftermarket 50th Anniversary wheel caps or IND carbon fiber black painted floating wheel center caps depending on your wheel finish (black, gunmetal, gold, polished silver).

Cheers
