Dinan chose the 265/30 • 285/30 combo and the fit is perfect. Of course, they are on 9.5/10.5, but you get the picture.

Would I be asking for odd handling if I did 245/35/19 and 295/30/19?
I didn't search the whole thread - but standard ride height on MPS should still be good for the 295/30/19 correct? Thanks |

Increased understeer. If you don't push your car to the limit on corners then it's not a big deal.

yeah, I mean, I get the idea of contact patch...was actually just curious if people had real-world experience with 245/295 - doesn't really matter at this point since the tires sold
Will probably just do 265/295 if I get PS4S |

I just put some 285/30r19 Conti Extremecontact sports on the rear because my PSS front still have tread left. The car understeers really bad with Traction Control on, it has so much rear push now that I'm debating what do while running stocks. I would love to get some wheels soon. I'm about to sell these new tires and do the 265/295 PS4s combo, not sure I want to take the $$ risk of getting 255 front and it doesn't deliver (they don't make my tires in a 265/30r19 HUGE oversight on my end) Going on a driving roadtrip soon to the mountains and need to fix it asap, but with traction control off it's alright

71R's are one of the loudest tires I've ever rolled on. I made the mistake of trying them on my ND Miata. Even worse in a convertible... Its funny they remind me of the old Yoko A048's which were unbearable on the street and sucked even more for track work... One hell of a autocross track tire if you can tolerate the noise. I wish they made the BFG Rival 1.5's in more sizes for our cars. Those are really quiet, ride better and perform just as well as the RE71R's

The 71R is the best road/track tire ever invented, despite the noise. The comp A048 is utterly fantastic when used properly...and with the weight to carry it...which a Miata will not have. |

I wouldn’t call the Trofeo R a bad ass track tire, but I was shocked at how comfortable and quiet it is relative to its grip. |

They sucked for Solo 2, were barely stickier than the top street tires at that time and as I mentioned before were downright nasty loud on the street. I gave them away. Only tire I ever chucked. As soon as I can finally get my car to the track I'll do a write up on the new Yoko A052's. They are proven to be faster than the re71r's for Solo 2 work and the few people I've seen online that have tracked then concur. setup is 18x10's with 265/35 and 295/35's..

RE-71R has a *lot* of what a tire engineer calls "sizzle." It's where a tread feature traps and compresses air as it rotates into the contact area. When you cross pavement features (tar filled cracks, any white/yellow lines, etc), it's a higher frequency noise similar to bacon frying. It really doesn't bother me, especially since it's only on the way to/from an event. Something like the NT-01 can get really loud, initially with tread surface whine like an 18-wheeler and after some serious heat cycles so very loud roar especially at lower speeds.

They all get seriously loud after heat-cycling in my experience, even my ultra soft A005's, it's just the nature of the game.

The set of A048's I ran was way back in 2004 or 2005. I'll bet they have been thru a few compound and construction changes since then. Those early sets heat cycled out fast, got real hard and sucked in the rain. My review back to Yokohama was " they do everything a little better than street tires, but nothing stands out except the noise. I remember running on them one day at the track and I never gave so many point by's to my fellow instructors. I slid all over the track that day. I've instructed and driven in several Lotus's and I don't remember any of the owners running on those tires at the track. Here's a review from another track driver (2103). Ran a set of medium-hard compound A048's for one season on my track car. Dry use only; no street use.Among the worst DOT-R tires I've ever used. They never had much grip to begin with, and what little grip they did have fell off rapidly after just a few heat cycles. All they do is make a ton of noise and slid around all over the place. I honestly think Hankook R-S3 street tires generate more outright grip than these Yokos. They're that bad.

Secondly, they were too expensive for track rats, who favored the R888 for track destruction. |
