Here is a new one.. anyone retrofit the passenger footwell lighter socket?

Hey yall!

Just traded in my F32 and brought home an AMAZING 2019 M2C! Today, transfering all my stuff I went to plug in my radar detector and dont have the power socket I expected!

In my F32, above roughly the left knee area, there is a lighter socket in that plastic plate.

In the F87, there is absolutely a hole in that same location as if there should be one, but there is no socket! I normally run power for the detector, left of the mirror, with a long cable run under the edge of the headliner, down the passenger A pillar and above the kick plate to the socket.

Has anyone else ever noticed this, and also retrofitted in the socket? The hole is even keyed as if to take the plug, so I bet its plug n play if you had the part, and were to tap for power and ground.

Anyone?

If anyone wants to do the same here are the 3 OEM parts:

Outer socket - 61349302183
Illuminated ring - 61349350797
lighter socket - 61349302235

I just need to look into where I will plug this in.. my hope is there is just one wiring harness (for CA and EU models included) and the OE connection is already there.

The socket tbh feels cheap and not very confidence inspiring. It was very intermittent with my dash cam cigarette adapter. Would only trust it to something the passenger can watch like their own phone charging or something.

thanks for for reminder, I need to order the parts. if there was someone who has thus socket that could check where it's plugged into, that would be amazing!

I realize this is an old thread but it ended with a question that went unanswered. So I pulled the undertray in the passenger compartment of my LCI and checked for any available plugs or harnesses. And sad to say, I found nothing. There are no unused plugs, wires, or harnesses to plug into.

One could tap an existing harness in the area (of which there are many) but the airbag gave me pause.

I'm thinking the best solution is to run some wires from the outlet near the cupholders to the existing hole once I figure out how to gain access. If any of you have done this, please share.

Ironic that you checked in on this as I finally checked for the wiring just thus week. Same conclusion though that wiring harness is gone. I bet order the plug and run from the center console socket would do it. That said, even though I have the parts now, likely won't do it. I wouldn't want to overdraw the fuse for the socket.

+1

I have it on my m2, I use it to power my dash cam, it came with the smokers package (it was not optional and came standard) here in Canada.
