They are great and perform better in the damp/wet than Cup2's too. They actually "let go" better than Cup2's also. I love them. |

I'm not judging, I just think that if you're braking that hard on the street, you're probably an idiot, which is true. Secondly, my ability is just fine, my other car is an Exige Cup car...that never cooks the brakes...even on track. Hell, it's hard to get enough heat in the tires most times. No way I'd bother driving the M2 pig hard like that. |

I read through this entire PAINFUL thread and I still never saw any real conclusions on the OP's question, and now I want to find some gentler pads for the street for my M2c. EBC Reds? Is that what I'm to conclude? 100% street car, not driven hard very often, mainly BMWCCA road events every month or two. Rest of the time, DD-type duty. Looking for suggestions without side arguments about street vs track, who's right and who's wrong, etc. Cleaner wheels and not so much bite/overly sensitive brake pedal are what I'm after. And gentler rotor wear.

From this pad you can expect similar to stock performance, but they will be quieter, dust less, and preserve the rotors much longer. They require no bed-in at all, simply clean your rotors really well, install the pads and drive on them for 2-300 miles before using them hard. They will work perfectly as b-road pads as well, so no worries there. You don't have to take my word for it, just do a search for Bimmerpost Carbotech 1521. |

Porterfield R4-S has been our best selling street pad. Not dust-free but much less dust than OEM. Made in the USA as well!

Initial bite on the Carbotech 1521 is smoother than the stock pads.

The dust staining the wheels is news to us. Did you leave the dust on too long prior to removing them? |

For those not up to speed on the brake coding Daap is providing, it’s primarily aimed at providing better pedal feel on track.

I didn't mind the stock coding on track with stock pads. I think this is because the stock pads required all the pressure I could give them to stop the car. I had the brakes tuned prior to using the xp12s. I also didn't get into ABS with the xp12s, but I did with the stock pads. I imagine this would have been amplified with the xp12s on track. It solved my biggest complaint with the brakes, so it was money well spent. 100% satisfied. |
