That I90 drive from the dealership is a lot of fun, especially the tunnels.

Humbly so, I opine it to be a mistake comparing any car to any other car, be it M2CS Vs 1M, or otherwise.

I liken it to comparing your child to someone else's child. they're all special in their own way; only time will tell how special.

In ten years' time, people might think M2CS was the worst, or the best car, BMW ever made. But I doubt anybody would be saying, I hate M2CS because 1M was such a great car.

I think the CS is cool but it was expected. What wasn't expected was the near fully loaded M4 price for a suped up 2 series.

It won't hold a candle to the 1M I think, mainly because the 1M wasn't just limited in units, it was also very limited in options so most of the cars were pretty much the same, hence why their values are overall pretty high.

I wouldn't compare the CS to the GTS, since the GTS was a flop and the CS is an actual good car.

I agree with this sentiment completely. The new M3/4 are the size of a 5 series from a few generations ago. Somewhat disappointing to see them getting bigger and fatter.

It is far far rarer than the 1M in Australia will ever be. 301 1Ms came to Oz and only circa 75-80 2CS cars are coming here.

In Aus at least, option wise on the CS there is exterior colour and wheel colour plus tyre choice. That leaves only transmission choice (well imo it’s not a choice, 6MT it is) plus factory tint. The 1M had paint and factor tint choices only, so I’d say the option choice is negligible between both cars, transmission aside.

Both my wife and I had a 1M, they were special, let’s just see who gets the keys to the CS first, me or the missus.

Agreed that would be ideal except... 🚔

Like the legendary E46 CSL, the 1M or M4 GTS, this is a car you are going to wish you had bought if you miss the opportunity now.

Yeah.. can you tell I loved the car? If I could, it would be sitting in my garage as the best Ultimate Driving Christmas Present EVER. (Actually, I would buy two of them)

Very well, I guess the question is, would both the M2CSs you'd own be 6MT?

It's one of those 'to be or not to be' kind of conundrums!!
I regret not buying the 1M and am not making the same mistake twice with the F87 CS.
Except a 1er M Coupe was $46K (usd) and this new M2 CS strikes a much higher price point

Yeah. Honestly have to drive it pretty slowly just because of the bikers and pedestrians. I will say that its a good enough road that its entertaining at 25-30 mph though.

I agree but with a car like the CS good luck with that 😂

Totally get it and would KILL to take that and others out for a longer drive. Keep in mind though these are new cars for sale. Any miles need to be kept to a minimum for the lucky person who guys it.

I am sure the new owner of that specific car (lucky guy actually here on these forums) appreciates I didn't put miles on it.

If there is ANY WAY to get in good with BMW, and get on the review circuit with their press cars, I will do it. Its actually something I am actively working on and hope to work it out.

That is how folks like Throttle House get a car for a week or more. If I ever get there, trust me, longer drives, better roads, pushing the cars a little more. I deeply respect the dealership for the brief loan, so will always treat the cars very gently.

I was at or above the CS price point anyway - it's less expensive than the other cars I was cross shopping for in Oz (GTS 718, LC500 or F-Type P350) so choosing a CS was a no brainer.

IMHO, I highly doubt this will be "an absolute future classic". The reason the 1M is so desired is because the msrp at 54k was a bargain and I think the Pyrat Rum story behind it (engineers working at nights and weekends) just doesn't happen at large auto manufacturers. A nice 1M can be bought in the 50's. With that said I love the M2 as I had an OG 2016. I was offered a CS but passed. The M4 GTS was a flop and the M3CS can be bought cheap now. Again it's just my opinion that BMW uses the "CS" marking to jack up the price with some alcantara and carbon fiber. Huge money maker for them per unit. The car is great but the price is ridiculous. I just picked up a barely used GT3 for similiar money.

It only takes a few minutes behind the wheel of the M2CS to recognize that it is special. Maybe the M2C is the same. Either way the M2 f series will go down as one of the best bmw platforms in its history. The CS being at the pinnacle makes it very difficult to fall from grace.
