I disabled ASD shortly after getting my car, and this weekend, during a rally, I was so happy I did. I could better hear what the car was actually telling me vice what some software wanted me to hear.
I feel it made my shifting better during high speed cornering and such. Maybe it's in my mind, but I don't regret disabling it at all. YMMV

Seems like the istep update might impact the level of burbles from what I've read in other threads. |

that's an interesting description of the feeling of ASD is sport - In hindsight, I think i had the same impression - and the ASD harness totally cured it.

It's got to be the in-cabin ASD frequency that is affecting some to a point of ears ringing, headaches, ears blocked etc. Can't wait for the harness to arrive now. Not a joy being in the car with sport mode on right now. |

I'm going to recode ASD on my M2C and just use the cable bypass. Seems like that's a good solution-- I just didn't have time to get into it before my road trip.

Yeah, it was a night and day difference. Best $50 I ever spent.

I recently did the Technicpnp ASD bypass along with several rolls of sound dampening as part of a larger audio upgrade. Post install, the first few times in sport / sport+ I was shocked at how much fake sound had been added and how quiet the car is now (stock exhaust). Initially the car seemed too quiet because I was not getting the audible feedback but opening the window a crack addresses that issue. After several weeks driving the stock exhaust is definitely too quiet and will be upgraded to something with better looks and more growl.

I didn't care for the fake burbles and my wife hated it so ASD was going, going gone one way or another.

A bit of a silly question.. If I'm free-revving the engine in neutral in sport or sport plus - would I be hearing any ASD?
I really can't tell, would be keen to hear what others think on this. |

I've installed the ASD bypass harness yesterday and I have noted there to be minimal difference with ASD now supposedly gone - have others experienced similar when they coded/used the harness to remove the ASD? Boominess is definitely reduced from sport/sport+, that was the key thing I noted plus more transmission whine and intake noise.

Has anyone tried coding the ASD to another setting using bimmercode? Wondering if there is a better setting for the M2C

Lazy question: TechnicPnP ASD bypass for 2018 M2 work for 2021 M2C?
Just traded my 2018 M2 for a 2021 M2C. I kept (uninstalled) the TechnicPnP ASD bypass that I had installed in my 2018 M2 way back when.
Before I tear the trunk apart to install it in my new M2C ... will it work? Everything still the same? Thanks |

When I got my M2C I really loved the sound even though I knew it was ASD.. (hear the but coming right?)
So as part of my amp upgrade, I included the ASD delete, and the difference is really night and day. The car sounds.. natural now, and what I realize before is the ASD was this really generic engine hum, roar, whatever. Now, especially with the new Active midpipe, the sound is correct and part of the experience of driving, especially enthusiastically. Lots of ways to do a ASD delete, but I couldn't be happier after doing so!
