So S55...but only 410hp? Guess that can be brought up quite a lot...
Sport seats = Nice Brake upgrade = Nice Now lets just wait and see what the price premium is going to be... $10K? $15k? 20? 25? $10 to 15...I think its probably worth it. Wonder if I get an ED slot for next Summer/Fall |

Not saying that the brakes/rotors in the (older) M2 CS test mule pictured below are CCBs, but to my eyes these look bigger than the ones sporting the base M2. Forum fellow lemetier pointed out that those are Fxx M5/6 fronts (400mm) and a unique hybrid rear setup. The 4 piston rear caliper comes from the F8x M3/4 MCCB, disc friction ring is M5/6 sized (395mm), and disc hat (with incorporated handbrake drum) is new, he commented. (source: http://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...php?p=21237030) Front and rear - base M2 (front rotors feature 3 rows of drilled holes): Front and rear - M2 CS test mule (front rotors feature 4 rows of drilled holes):

So this makes the M2 CS the "true" M car? Originally heard lots of no "S" engine = not real M (and no M Mirrors = Not real M lolz)
Wondering if by having the S55 engine, does it make it optional to have the M performance exhaust from the F8x? While I like the normal Exhaust made, I seem to be in the minority and people actually preferred the noise from the original engine.

This car will have more than 410hp for sure.
The quoted power is for marketing purpose and should be taken as such. The S55 in this car should have a similar output as the regular M3/M4. The performance difference between the CS and the regular M2 will be like night and day. The difference will be mostly from the manic power of the S55 and a re-calibrated diff. |

On the power output, I mean M3/M4 ZCP is 444hp (425 non-ZCP)? You think they are going to bump up against that? I'm guessing this will be 410/420 de-tuned from the M3/M4 |

If BMW M wouldn't do that, it would IMHO miss a golden opportunity in many ways. And remember about the bigger brother M4 CS: "not a limited series, just limited by production capacity" confirmed BMW M CEO Frank Van Meel in May 2017 (source: here - in the same interview he also confirmed that the production volume of the base M2 will be increased). IMHO it makes sense to expect to hear that same phrase again at the future M2 CS launch.

BMW has been known to adjust power output numbers at intro, specifically on M cars (I suspect they have more latitude tweaking engine maps and the resulting output on S engines vs mass market stuff). One thing that's certain is that the number never goes down from its pre-production value.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it would still seem that if you aren't on a list at this current point in time, chances are you will not be getting one.

Anything less than 2,000 M2 CS ( no way it will be that high) will make it a long wait. BMW has two options here. Make it a cheap upgrade and cannobolize regular M2 and M4 sales. Or make it expensive and limited and get the PR they want. |
