The E9x guys have swapped M3 clusters over to the 335i as have the 135i and with 1M cluster.

The common theme is that 'retrofitted' clusters need to be "coded" to match the VIN of the car.

Also in BMWs, the vehicle's mileage is stored (shadow copy) in various modules. So just putting a new cluster in will cause a mismatch in the reported mileage value and you may see "tamper warnings".

That said, the coding process I would assume "Virginizes" the cluster too so that after coding, it picks up the true mileage value by syncing with the order modules (that record mileage).

Finally, it seems that service history logs may not appear correctly. Something to do with date mismatches - from the various google threads I could not see a solution for it yet.

Other than the gauges, nothing else should warrant current my16 or 17 owners to fret, especially if there is a price increase. The orange color looks nice, if it becomes available, but the blue calipers and seat stiching wouldn't compliment it at all. Personally, I don't really care about the touch screen or any of connectivity crap....part of me wants to rip the iPad thingy outta the dash, get rid of the climate control, go back to a nice manual system like my e28 had, and lighten up everything else!......the new m4 cs door panels and seats would be nice though :-)

Not me. Only use Waze, tells me if junk is on the road or cops which is the main reason i use it.

Same, the in-car nav always seem overly complicated and lacking in functionality. To each their own, I just didn't realize anyone really used others.

The M2 LCI will serve its purpose: life cycle impulse.

I guess the headlights and rear lights can be retrofitted on the pre-LCI (but won't be cheap).

Good move by BMW to improve the instrument cluster readability.

Up next (late Autumn presentation): the M2 CS. It'd better be worth its salt.

I do know you get Waze audio through bluetooth which is good enough for me.
