Easy change your 6MT feel - Turner Motorsports shifter bushing DIY

Howdy all!

I wanted to share out my latest DIY, to address one of the few shortcomings I have found in my OEM manual shifter. One of the few complaints I hear is the really mushy feel, especially if you are moving through the gates quickly.

While there are a ton of possible options, I found the Turner Motorsport bushing to be one of the easiest, quickest and pretty reasonably priced options!

The change is dramatic honestly, and strongly suggest it if you want to firm up the shifting feeling in your 6MT.

Check it out!

Ooh, thanks so much. I'm adding this to my shortlist of mods I want to perform on my LCI M2. I just picked up a QuickJack, so maybe I'm close to ready!

Nice! The quickjacks are arguably the test tool I have bought in 5+ years, and I have used mine to death at this point. One quick tip: ALWAYS check the boost cylinders every time you use it, to make sure they are up to proper pressure.

Nice! May try this while I go in to readjust my exhaust. Did you go back to the single midpipe from the EL?

Man you guys have good eyes.. I actually did this bushing just before I installed the EL. I had other content I had to get out first.

I'm still chasing the best exhaust setup and watched your videos far too many times lol.

Really interested on the bushings- I was looking at the Autosolutions SSK, but it doesn't include these bushings. Any differences in the two setups? or maybe doing both would be the ideal solution for crisp shifts?

I saw one reply that both is very very good. I haven't tried that ssk so can't say directly.

I asked Ron who makes the SSK and he did not recommend doing this bushing. He thought some compliance there was preferred with the SSK. I am sure the SSK has much more effect than this bushing alone. The question would be what does both feel like.

Well just to add to the information, it looks like the bushing is out of stock on Turner and ECS until October 2022. I actually lucked out as one of the local stores (Pelican Auto) had one in stock and I ended up picking it up this afternoon.

I had access to a lift today so rushed over to install it- Heat shield was easy to remove, BUT it looks like my AA EL midpipe does not have enough room near the downpipe end for the heatshield to slide down. It got stuck on the first bend of the EL, and after 20 minutes of twisting, bending, pushing, pulling and a half bent heatshield, I gave up.

I did not want to bother removing the whole exhaust for this quick mod, and the bushing is going to get returned unfortunately.

IN SHORT: If you have AA EL, be prepared to remove midpipe (or maybe just loosen) for Turner Shifter Bushing Install

trying to install the bushing this weekend. I have a 15% reduction with my AS ssk so I'm curious how this'll feel. I also have a CAE waiting to install to compared against the AS so we'll see if I can get it done this weekend.

I installed this bushing a few months ago, and I think this may be the most cost effective mod I have ever done.

Ditto. The shift feel is so much better. It was way too rubbery and vague before.

Looks like I got the last bushing in stock at ECS and UPS of course breaks the box and loses only the bushing. And of course they arent expected back in stock until October. Ugh. I was really hoping to install this along with the new exhaust, but I guess it'll have to be a 2 part install now.

Ah dude that sucks.. sorry to hear that! UPS absolutely DESTROYED (I mean thrashed beyond I could have imagined) my first set of turbos. It looked like they ran over the box with the truck several times.

There is audible click when shifting that is definitely noticeable, but it's not objectionable. Your passengers will notice it though. Noise, yes, but no increased vibration or harshness.

None for me, no NVH and just the audible change mentioned. Shifting feel is much cleaner, more precise.
