I don't think there is anything I would replace mine with if I sold. Maybe a pristine E46. I jumped on the M2C when I saw BMWs new design language.
I love the idea of a higher end P car, but the price tag keeps me off that particular crack.

What an interesting quandary. How much of this is a scarcity problem versus an emotional bias? Used car prices are up an average of 20% this year. If one were to sell, what conceivably could you replace it with that wasn't already inflated as well? On the flip side, this question is being posed to a group that quite biased. Myself included. This could be my first and last ICE sports car I'll ever own. The time to sell is probably between now and a few months into next year. Eventually chip production will catch up, and we'll know even more about the G87. There is a price for everything, but I'm having a hard time coming up with one.

If someone were to offer me $120,995 like this dealership is doing, then I will say yes.

My M2C lease residual is $34k 6 months from now. I think I could get a bit more than that. I plan to buy it out and keep it for a while

On the one hand, I'd like to be the guy that puts 300k+ miles on my M2 like I did with my 330i. On the other hand, and like someone else already mentioned, at $80k it becomes a serious consideration to go ahead and sell. I'd probably end up in a 718 GTS 4.0 or GT4 afterwards. Assuming I could find an allocation anywhere for either car.

Same here. I wouldn't really want to, but that's a nice profit to drive the car 2 months.
I'd then sit on that money and figure out what to do when the G87 comes out. Could very well end up with another F87.

I'm hooked, well beyond any rational consideration. If I sold it for any amount it would only be to turn around and buy another M2C, and pocket the difference for more mods/tires/pads. Or something to try (like the Porsche) knowing I'd probably sell it and buy another M2. I think that if you can look at this as simply a financial transaction, then you should sell now, ride out winter in a beater, and shop again next spring (but I'm thinking that some of this hype is just hyperbole, doubt that 60-70k offers are everywhere you look).
Next up - what would you sell your kids for? (or should we start with the dog and work up?) |

I sold my 2021 for $67K last week. Gave the guy a deal I think at this point. I put a order in for a 2022 M240i xDrive yesterday cause I'm curious. Delivery should be around December. Was interested to see the same 0-60 time as my M2C manual. So should still be fun. There's always other cars out there than an M2C... which is blasphemy I know. I try not to get emotionally attached to any vehicle.

If I can get an order in for the Ford Lightning I'm trading/selling the M2 next Spring.
Hoping the values hold or go up. |
