My Idrive has apps for Spotify, Pandora, and Amazon music. It's why I've never bothered to get Carplay. My 2017 X3 which came with Idrive 5 also has all apps, although I have bimmercoded it to Idrive 6.

It seems this hack is a common practice for BMW internally, to digitally control the equalizer presets via coding..
I'm surprise no one had discover this before, considering the comprehensive coding data that's already out there.. 🤷🏻 . |

Go to to the Spotify APP and then "Setting" then "Music Quality" and adjust it to the highest bandwidth settings. Note that you would always get the best quality of music with a direct connection, like the phone to USB, since some bandwidth is compressed and loss during the transfer, whenever you're steaming via anything wireless.. |

https://www.bmwblog.com/2020/08/17/a...-bmw-idrive-6/ I'm sticking with my note10+ for now and downloaded the last version that worked for me (8.5.66.1002). Mileage may vary though. I found the older versions here: https://spotify.en.uptodown.com/android/versions Uninstall spotify, download and install the apk through your phones web browser, then disable auto-update for Spotify in the play store. |

yeah I'm wondering about this. I have not disconnected center speaker yet but been thinking about doing it. Wondering if it still makes the system sound better with this mod.

My only concern with this is having the subs fail, so I wonder how much I have to dial back bass to make it equal to the original f87 eq settings.

artbrunson what are the steps to upgrade the idrive in BimmerCode?
Updated the eq settings this am. I thought it would unlock an actual eq. But it's cool it does sound better on f45. Any other must have BimmerCode settings? I was a bit disappointed, didn't see anything particularly interesting other than eq. I have a 17 og M2 btw

Awesome, exactly what I needed.
Too funny... that dude in the video is in Charlotte Ballyntine area - I think I lived in that same apartment complex in 1999 when I lived in Charlotte for a year

I did the update to ID6. Doesn't seem like a big deal. Honestly, I think the previous layout is nicer and quicker to get into menus.
While the ID6 has the larger icons are there any other benefits? I selected ID6 "light" btw, based on the video

It's just a "skin" change. There's no added benefit or difference other than the visual changes, It's just a matter of preference. I personally like the id6 tile layout better.

Hi everyone, new to the forum and thank you for the tip re F45 setting, just coded and will listen for a few days before I can make a comment on the change. Its a new car so the speakers also need some time to settle in. (quick test, base much improved, but the front speakers still sound harsh to my ears)
May I ask if anyone has done this code change together with the Eton B100W fronts + JL C2-400X rears upgrade? or would a separate setting for the amp be recommended with the changed speakers? Thanks again! James |

I think the initial 'wow' feeling the F45 setting gave me has worn off. After spending some time in my F30 and then going back in my M2 I realized F45 sounds way too boomy and the front speakers/subs are hitting way too hard. I switched to F22 new (which for some reason also check marks F87) and set individual EQ iDrive settings to +5 bass/treble. I like it much better and I'll be keeping it like that.

Also, I don't know if you remember but there where several threads discussing the difference between the "old" & and "new" HK amp, in the LCI model but I remember when I checked, the parts numbers we all common amongst each model year, now I realize all BMW did is revise the EQ settings and had everyone fooled. I guess that's at least one mystery solved.. Harman Kardon in 2017 M2 vs 2016 M2 vs 2016 M2 https://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1300868 Ready to buy a 16' m2. I like the clarity of the F22new/F87 better than the bass of the F45. I think I'm gonna stick with the clearer sound and boost the bass in tone settings.

So today, my amp decided to stop pumping out any bass at all, regardless of what tone settings I had setup on iDrive (I had bass -1 as I found F45 to be a bit too boomy, was too lazy to code it back to stock). Anyway, I tried resetting iDrive by holding the volume/power button down for ~30 seconds, tried pressing the Reset button in the tone page, tried disconnecting/forgetting my iPhone from ACP, tried connecting my wife's phone (BT never been setup with her phone before btw) to rule out my phone; nothing.
I kinda panicked a bit and thought maybe the subs were gone because of the F45 coding, but I tried one last thing and that was to code the amplifier settings back to F87/F22_New, and the bass came back. Was worried I'd have to make an appointment with the dealership lol. I think I'll be leaving it in F87 as some of you have also mentioned, not just because of this hiccup, but I think I do like this sound profile a bit more than F45. |
