I believe the 718 GT4 will have both transmissions available...the PDK should be lightening fast, and I'm sure the manual will be almost as fast and a joy to drive.

I've been saying that I can see this being the best car Porsche has made in a long time, especially if it gets the "real" GT treatment, like an engine that revs to 8500 or more.

You guys are killing me. I keeping thinking there is new CS info but we're discussing the new GT4. But I'll add my 2cents to the gt4 discussion. No way in hell the CS competes with the new GT4. However, I do think they will attempt to beat the previous gen GT4.

No chance beating the old GT4.

I thought the old GT4 was in the low 7:40s. I think they'll be able to get the CS in high 7:30s

Edit: If the m4cs can put down a 7:35, then why can't the M2CS?

I am sure the 981 GT4 would benefit, time-wise, from a newer tire as well - I didn't realize the M4CS was that quick...the M2CS will be down a bit on power, and have less rubber overall compared to the M4CS, so probably won't be quite as fast...should be a fun comparison with the original GT4 regardless.

It's amazing how quick/fast these 4 seat cars are getting. I'm also hoping that the CS upgrades still keep if fun at lower speeds.

As tire technology progress, they might be able to cut down the lap time even with the 265 width limitation.

Don't underestimate the rubber; that's the only part that actually touches the tarmac.

That's precisely my point - I am not sure what tires the GT4 came with stock (PSS maybe?), but I am sure the PS4, for example, would lead to a quicker lap.

Hard to say by how much, but I would assume it would be faster than the original time.

According to my Google search, the GT4 came with Pirelli Trofeo R tires.. Probably custom for that vehicle, 'cause I never heard of them.

Good point, Porsche would probably out-tire the M2 CS regardless, so it's anyone's guess which one would be track champion.

I can afford both M2 CS and 718 GT4 and want the 718 GT4. However, I need to see if the 718 GT4 is coming with a PDK as I need the automatic. Second, I have to try to get an allocation on a GT4 with no Porsche buying history. Just have a history of BMW's and Mercedes so hopefully competitive cars hold some water. If no PDK and no allocation, then I will have to get an M2 CS.

Any advice on getting an allocation on a 718 GT4 assuming there is a PDK?

Is it really like that to purchase certain Porsches; you need clout for them to even take your money?

And if so, how green does your money have to really be for you to be anointed the owner of such vehicle?

Sport Cup 2 seems to be the norm here for GT cars.

While we are in the topic of the GT4, what Porsche Forum is the best? Or Cayman specific forum?

Thx!

If these times were the late sixties and this thread would discuss the forthcoming Beatles album and how the Fab Four are doing lately, the discussion would also digress about The Rolling Stones and their latest antics, guessing how their upcoming album is gonna sound.

Though M2 CS and 718 GT4 are different concepts, they both got the 'truncated bigger brother' position in the car brand pecking order. And it wouldn't surprise me if the delta in MSRP stock price between both cars would be smaller than what most seem to expect or take for granted.

Stopped by the BMW dealership to check out misano blue. Looks very similar to jaguar ultra blue. M going to stop by on way out to get a picture of my car next to the z4. I still think HS is going to be the way I go.

There is a video on YouTube how to get a Porsche 911 GT3 that explains the process of getting GT cars. It seems frustrating unless you have a Porsche buying history.

I don't know who this dude is but his video does display some cool renderings of the M2 CS (amongst others) and he pretty much gives the Cliff's Notes of what we already know..

Rumour mill on 718 GT4;

FWIW, On line debut 06-18 (next Tuesday )

Goodwood FOS reveal 07-04

PDK is believed to come, but only as 2nd batch, 6 MT to be first

Well, patience I must have, for PDK is the only option for me, no 6 MT with long gearing.

Its about time now, I have waited far too long HMOG

The GT4 and M2CS are the cars to have IMHO.
