Problem Areas to Note Before Warranty Expiration?
My CS will reach the end of warranty later this year.
For the remaining time, I'm wondering what areas owners have experienced I should be aware of and perhaps have BMW look at or fix prior to warranty expiration. To this date, it has been problem free even though I track it once/twice a year and it's a DCT. Also, anyone have experience with extended warranties? Is it worth it and how much to expect? |

Give that roof a good inspection - any clouding, any flakey appearance, anything at all…make note of it now…even if nothing is done about it yet, at least if it’s noted before expiry you have a better case in the future if anything should arise.
Nothing else top of mind for me - one of the benefits of a final model year |

Is this a prevalent issue?

In a few isolated instances, yes - but seemingly mainly where it’s been structural (bubble).
TBD on whether the milky appearance in mine near the edges (see other roof issue threads) is structural or cosmetic, and TBD if BMW will ultimately step up, but I sincerely hope they do over time if we all continue to pressure them. My car is getting looked at in the next few months so I’ll know more then and report back. Swapping the roof is a monster undertaking on these cars as I believe it’s lifted up through the interior, so TBD if I would even actually go through with a swap if I found out it was purely cosmetic and not gonna get worse…but I wouldn’t mind having an OEM roof in storage if they acknowledge the problem! |
