Recaro seats and airbag coding
Hey gents,
I've recently replaced the seats on my BMW M2c. Since the pole positions do not have airbags I'm getting the annoying display on the Idrive system for both passenger and driver. I've tried to find the info in regards to coding out the airbags but can't seem to find anything for the M2c. Have any of you guys done this? I have bimmer code but once I put the system in advance it's gibberish. Any pointers are appreciated !!!! |

I can't speak for certain, but I believe Bimmercode doesn't allow access to safety-related aspects. Either way, E-sys is a better system for this kind of change.
If you're just removing the seats like I've done (pair of Recaro Profis), but keeping the factory belts and tensioners, see the attached. Doing this will send faults to the car so you'll need to clear those after coding has been done. |

There's 2 or 3 sensors to code out. Used the oem electric slides & added electric lumbar supports too (pic below). Brey Krause make a Nogaro to M2 specific kit with side adaptors & all the info you need to wire up & install them. There's a good 'how to' on you tube here…

Where would someone acquire those resistors? Are they PNP, or are there some mods that need to be made?

@chief1richard Here's my thread on adding Nogaros, including all the brackets, etc.: https://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...php?p=25535027
@NY135ivishnu The info specific to coding coding is here (including instructions on downloading e-sys and getting it working): https://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...9&postcount=40. As mentioned, bimmercode won't work for this purpose. The resistors used are typically 3 ohm 1/4W--you can either cut the wires and solder one on, or re-use the connector and get some new pins to build a fully PNP solution. |

Yes, you’ll need to code the seats back in when you place the stock seats back. The coding is easier than the physical swapping of the seats.

Hi Shawn, not sure what you mean. I receive private messages all the time or are you referring to something different?

They are pretty much identical to the Pole positions I have in my RS275R although the harness slots are located a little better & the fact you can buy the BreyKrause M2 specific kit was a plus. The few small bits & pieces you need to make the whole system plug & play without having to cut wiring etc can be had on eBay with a little searching. Cost is never cheap for this type of quality although it was less than buying Pole positions & retrimming them. The driving experience is transformed once you get rid of the oem seats. The only real downside is lack of easy access to the rear seats although I've never had anyone in the rear seat so not an issue for me. I'm using the Schroth quikfit harness on track days & given this car is my daily I am trying hard not to ditch the rear seat & add a cage, although it is very tempting.

I'll probably be going with Nogaros as well and have been doing some research. This thread may help you:
