Me and my friend (the one I sold my old Dinan Turbo to) put our cars on the roller.
Fuel is RON98 (US AKI 93OCT). GP500: 17psi, 5th gear Dinan Turbo: 17psi, 4th gear (because 5th showed slightly less due to heat). With GP500, there are some 2psi of headroom (that I tested last summer) left in the octane and fuel pump. Because for my daily and track map, I want consistent power. Dinan turbo is pretty much octane limited, running 17+psi under max 95F of IAT that we saw. Feel free to ask anything.

I can push that extra 2psi for 15~20whp more peak power on cool days. But the return is diminishing as I'd be just trading consistency for it, no mention of the traction issue at lower gears. There is no value in my eyes added to the whole package, which is already 100 more horsepower to the wheel that is way more consistent, reliable and smooth with minimal spool loss over stock (330whp). As for fueling, 100% stock. From logs, my car is not fueling limited at all. I knew it and Halim also saw no value in the pump upgrade in my case until I use ethanol which I never will.

Maybe I'll join you and do G-Power 500 for next upgrade. I wonder if there is still a bit of headroom left in HPFP and what max power it could support on the high boost/high octane map Halim made me in combination with GP500? Any thoughts? |

Good upgrade path if you went the Dinan route originally as you'll have a core to send while still driving your vehicle. |

Ironically there is a G Power authorized vendor in Texas, actually they are the only ones listed in all of US. Got quoted 3,500 plus custom fees and roundtrip shipping. Might have to find a new route

I'd suggest you do meth first, because you need it anyway when upgrading to STG2 turbo and doing 20+psi. Dinan Turbo will be extremely strong at 20psi flat, paired with meth. You don't even need octane booster. I think at 20psi+meth, you'd make more power than my current map. It'd be a very very sweet setup compared to the PS2 because Dinan turbo spool stock fast, way more responsive than PS2. You then decide from there.

If you want max power on pump gas, TTE460/550, GP500, PS2 can max out the octane, or the fueling depending on tune. TTE460 at 1k5~1k7 (core exchange) is a tremendous value. No mention it spools very fast. If you want consistent pump gas power, TTE550, GP500 and PS2 would be the way to go, depending on how much you care about spool up and power headroom. TTE and Pure accept core exchange. If you use ethanol, the fueling upgrade is a requirement even with stock turbo. Any STG2 turbo will be good, but you'll be still octane/cooling limited at 20+psi because of the heat. If you use meth, TTE550, GP500 and PS2 can push 22psi and get close to 500whp on a happy dynojet. No fueling mod needed, as meth supports enough. If you want to max out at 24~25psi, Meth/PI(or XDI pump)/PS2 are recommended. In my opinion, hybrid turbo is not comfortably making 20+psi due to the backpressure from the manifold. You can push to make boost and power, but the high power is for drag only, it is fragile and inconsistent.

Sean,
Interesting thread about n55 HPFP [Bosch HPFP5] upgrade using oem B58 HPFP [Bosch HPFP5evo] - OEM upgrade that could get M2 HPFP near to the $2k+ XDI35 unit for ~ $200 !!! https://www.n54tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=56996 BP

PS2 is bigger. And is proven to make power up to 24-25psi, for a short period of time.

Excellent and informative thread. Would you say the same holds true for the M235i N55? Like you, I would be more interested in OEM-like consistency, power delivery and spool. I don't want to use methanol, ethanol or PI. I also do not want to upgrade my HPFP (except for the B58 pump maybe). The PS2 seems to have the most turbolag and I would really want to avoid that. The TTE460 and GP500 both seem like an excellent choice, but I am a bit confused about the price comparison between the two. A local TTE dealer lists the TTE460 for €1,650.-. I would need a local mechanic to pull out the stock turbo (€1,200.-?), ship it, wait for TTE to modify it (estimate on their website is 30 days) and then ask the local mechanic to put the new turbo back in (€1,200.-?). Just upwards of €4,000.- total and I'd be stuck without a car for over a month. They also don't offer a core charge option so you either have to ship in your own turbo or buy a new one (€4k alone). GP lists their GP500 turbo for the F22 for €3,991.93 including installation at their site. Their website does not mention any further details. It makes no mention of stock turbo removal, having to send it in up front or what installation actually entails. I dropped them an e-mail to get this clarified. Any thoughts?
