What version of idrive do you have mine is starts with the letter K
Go to nav settings software and it will tell you there. Yes there was an update in March. I know cause I did it myself to the car using esys.

I always play the music on my phone via the usb cable. The ONLY thing that will play now is Pandora - even though I don't have it running on my phone!
And my versions.... why do they seem old? Dealer told me no update avail...

You do your own update through BMW Connected drive for the nav. Unless there is an issue, BMW will not pay the dealer to update. They don't even update when your in for service.

Agree. Seems like some people need to RTFM for both the car and the phone.
The next complaint will be in ~3 years when the wonderful built-in navigation's real-time updates and other pay features stop until they pony up a renewal fee. |

You can update your car your self but it's kinda of a process.
I also have the pandora issue seems to start first. I think that's a Iphone bug lol. Dealers will only update the car if you find something to complain to them about. You should complain to them about the car play issues. The update fixed a bunch of issues in the newer version. If you have a 07/2016 build or higher you have the same hardware as me and the update is there. As you can see from my version.

How do you update?
I went to bmw.com/update, entered my VIN and it says the system is up to date. When I check I'm at 111153.3.213 Road Map NORTH AMERICA EVO 2016-2 NBTevo H16211 or is this correct for "my region"? |

Not sure if this fixes your Pandora/CarPlay issues or if it's only about Pandora Premium? Pandora Premium drops invite system, launches wide with iOS & CarPlay support |

I took my car (Sept 2016 build) to the dealer asking to get updated. I had the following issues listed -
1. Static on phone calls. 2. CarPlay slow to reconnect when getting back into car after a short stop (like stopping at an ATM). 3. CarPlay unresponsive at times, moving iDrive controller causes no action on the CarPlay screen. I have an iPhone 7 on iOS 10.3.1 and mentioned that these issues have been happening regardless of iOS level. The dealer said that they tried a couple different iPhones and couldn't replicate the issues Suffice it to say, this dealership won't be servicing my car anymore. Instead of simply updating the software as I requested, they tried a few phones and declared it good, basically saying that there is no issue and that it's either me or my device. Not sure why some dealerships haven't a clue when it comes to good customer service I'll try again in a few weeks at a different dealership and report back when I do. |

Yeah, super annoying when they don't update. I left the car with them overnight and thought they would. When the service advisor called me in the morning and said they couldn't replicate the issue, I didn't even bother to argue the point. I just wanted to get my car back and out of that dealership!

I was pretty disappointed with Peter Pan BMW refusing to update the software in my 2017 M2, and subsequently contacted the BMW Genius folks. They said the same thing, that no update is available for my car. They claimed to have spoken with BMW's engineering team to confirm.
I subsequently contacted BMW North America's customer support team, which sent me back to the BMW Genius folks who reiterated that there's no new software and they can't help me. Felt like I was going in circles. So I replied and Cc'd a couple of BMW North America executive team members. A few days later, I heard from one of their administrators who asked for details on my software version, which versions are on other cars in the wild (thanks for the pics, guys!) and what issues I was experiencing. I sent along the specific version information, pictures of the iDrive and Navigation version numbers from this thread, and described the issues. She's claiming to be in touch with BMW engineering to solve the issue. We'll see if something finally happens. To date it's been "Too bad. No update is available, and we won't even try to update your car. Deal with it." Hopefully they actually put some effort into this and help out. |
