Dealers taking wait lists?
I am in a froth to get on a list, anywhere but preferably AZ, NV or CA. I called around a little today and here is what I came up with:
BMW of Tucson who said they won't take any orders or have a list until they have more info from the factory. They will call me back when that happens. Chapman BMW, didn't get a live body, left a message, will update once they call me back BMW North Scottsdale, unsure if there is a list but will call, also will update when I get a call back. I was thinking we can start a thread where we report who has lists and who does not. I was unable to find such a thread on a search. |

I'm number #4 with a $1,000 deposit with a respected M salesguy. Which I was reassured many times that he gets more allocations than others. He personally told me that I have nothing to worry about.
I still got nervous and I called around some more and I am #1 at a dealership 150 miles from home but without a deposit. To say the least I am still nervous with my name down with 2 dealerships one official and one non official since the dealership that put me at #1 did not want to take my deposit until they get an allocation. This was 3 months ago.

And you will definitely not take them to court if they back out of their agreement.

I was able to get responses from all three of the dealers I called. I am #4 of BMW of Tucson's list, no deposit required, deal at MSRP. Chapman called me back yesterday and said management decided to make a list and I could join it for 1k deposit for an MSRP deal, didn't say where I would be on the list though. BMW North Scottsdale says I can be number 5 on their list for 1k deposit, did not commit to no markup beyond MSRP. Obviously there is no harm in staying on the list with Tucson, not sure they will come through but trust them because they seem to have a pretty solid reputation and I have plenty of emails and texts between eye and their sales manager. I have toyed with putting my name on another list to cover myself but I think I will just go with BMW of Tucson and trust their word is good.
It does sound like there is some early interest around the car, not as big as M3/M4 interest or nearly as big as 1M interest but enough to make Chapman's management change their minds and go ahead and created a list |

The M2 presentation at NAIAS/Detroit next January may up the ante.

Maybe the information is also helping someone here:
I ordered my M2 on Thursday morning (I must have been one of the first in Germany as I was able to send my configuration some days earlier) and will get it on April, 18. That date can change in the next weeks / month but that are the first facts I have about delivery. |

I hesitated on my M2 deposit, and as of Friday I am #7. Not much to worry about, in my mind. There should be enough to go around.

I've seen our lists... i8 i9/i8s (very short lived and refunded every person) X5M X5M M4GTS G12 7 series M2 Even the X1... People will put their name on anything. I respect how my new car director does it. We take a $1000 deposit. On your receipt we put a number. Make a copy of the receipt and the CA gets the copy. The customers name goes in the book and you get a call once you can modify the vehicle. Not ALL dealerships are bad as much as some people think. |

DAMNIT!
My dealer (Pleasant Grove, UT BMW) asked for $2,000 deposit and I paid it. I should have checked this page first and told them everyone else is asking $1,000 for deposit. I'm the 4th on the list in Utah - we only have two BMW dealers so they coordinated between the managers of both stores.
Now we'll see when I get to start building mine. Maybe a couple folks will drop out of the waiting list and I will get bumped up. |

#7 at BMW Fairfax (va) with a $500 non refundable (unless they dont get enough allocations).
they were taking both refundable and non refundable, so im hoping some people dropped. I dont want to be annoying so havent followed up yet and dont plan to until i start hearing US pricing and others start building in the US |

Expand your search. Try dealers in places like Arkansas, Missouri, Tennesee and Louisiana and arrange for PCD on the west coast ... |

Just call me. I'll sell you the car at MSRP - but I will need a deposit to get on the list.
Search my name. I have some experience with limited edition M cars =). |

I'll buy it for $4k under MSRP. I have some experience paying less than MSRP for non-limited production cars.
