Kinda disappointed in the choices, but things can surely change.
As of right now, I'd go with either Long Beach or MG |

really? how low were your expectations? My M235i actually appears to be a much better deal price/performance. I'm starting to Wonder if BM is not starting to lose the plot a little. This is my 3rd bimmer, not sure there is going to be a 4th one.

First of all, thanks Dackel for ending the news drought, much appreciated!
With overboost I'm generally good with the HP and TQ figures though I had thought we'd see the overboost torque number as the number. I also imagine the numbers are slightly understated though, in which case I'm good! Bummer on no Donington Grey from the get go, I was totally set on that color ... I suppose I'll have to make a new selection.

The 1M and 135 feel like very different cars to drive....and I'm sure the M2 will also feel totally different to the 235. I am however disturbed that the M2, even with overboost, will have less torque than the 1M. |

Hm from that list Mineral Grey, I like it on my 4.
However something like Carbon Black or Tanzanite or Silver Grey would fit also nicely I think MG on Gregs M4 : |

I think maybe all our expectations are different. Personally, I don't expect the engine to be the main talking point about this car. What I really care about is that they take the really good 2er chassis, and add the suspension, brakes, diff and EPS from the M3/4. Now THAT, is what makes me salivate. Wasn't the 1M identical? At the end of the day, it was just an N54 that could be found anywhere. But the combination between the chassis and E9x M3 parts made it magical.

Wow. This actually sucks. Where are the nice solid colors like imola, dakar, laguna seca. They don't need to bring back old colors, but at least offer something than white, gray, black and then turquoise....who in the right mind wants a turquoise BMW?

This is as much as I expected the M2 to be. It will be a tad higher in the pecking order than its cousin, the M235i but not too much where it will detract from it older siblings, the M3 and M4. A happy medium I say.

In the last few years BMW has become extremely conservative on their HP numbers and most likely this car will have 365 whp (~415 crank HP) but you can't blame some people here expecting a bit more from the engine. I'm sure the suspension and the driving dynamics will be terrific, after all everyone praises the M3 for it's handling and that has always been the hallmark of an M car. Needless to say however, BMW has been a bit behind the curve in the engine compartment recently |

Call me what you want as I presently own 3 BMWs and have owned 10 over my lifetime at the ripe old age of 43. However, for me it is a cost to performance issue when juxtaposed against the M3. The M2 will likely exceed $60k for a moderately equipped machine and a similarly equipped M3 is $70k. That is a small delta to me for a big performance difference. It really just makes me re-evaluate the purchase as a M235 w/diff makes more sense than an M2 if the price point is going to be what I suspect, or just jump up to a M3; that is my way of thinking anyway.
