I only drive manuals. Only time I had a non manual was the e46 m3 smg2 almost 15years ago. Availability of a manual is a major selling point for me.

DCT, because MT is almost 7k euros option overhere, it's a more digital car than the analogue 1M and it 's working more than fine irl and on trackdays. I also think 6MT in M2 is a tad overrated by carjournos who in general are not the best drivers....[voice Jeremy Clarkson] ...In the world[/JC] . It looks like a bragging thing a bit. In EU DCT is gaining more and more respect(carmags Sportauto/Auto Motor Und Sport)

But each to their own.

Cheers
Robin

I think this is the point... there are so many threads out there on this topic that it is hard to decide which one to contribute to if you want to discuss this topic... so start a new thread!

To the topic (since I am too lazy to pic one of the other threads to join)... I was MT all the way - never owned anything else... but as my wait for a build goes longer I am using the time wondering if I should bow to the pressure of entropy and make the switch to DCT.

Going to drive a DCT (once my dealer gets something with DCT in) to give the decision some honest input.

The irony in doing that is that you make it even worse for the next guy that has yet another thread to be confused about and valuable information is spread out in 20 different threads.

Don't be that guy.

In 2002 I ordered m3 with smg2 thinking it was the future. It is in so many ways better but just not for me. I always regretted it. Manual all the way you can't go wrong.

My ordered M2 is 6MT... I am just looking for something to keep me occupied in the long wait

It does in The Netherlands merely as a result of taxes based on emissions:
  • M-DCT CO2 value = 185 g/km (emission rating EU6)
  • 6MT CO2 value = 199 g/km (emission rating EU6)
Result: though the M-DCT costs more than the 6MT, Dutch taxes push the price of the 6MT over the one of the M-DCT.

So that extra cash goes to the Dutch State, rather than to BMW.
