No way i would pay almost 4000 euro for an louder exhaust. The worst thing you're original exhaust you also have paid for is lying around in you're garage.
So what s the best exhaust. The one you get for free when you buy the car |

If you want to be "loud as possible" but retain cats, drop the muffler and run custom straight pipes behind. This, however, probably won't be favorable for drone characteristics. But it will be loud.
With the premium prices now for m2 exhausts, for your needs you can easily get a high quality custom built system for cheaper. Just no guarantees regarding sound characteristics since it would be 1 of 1

Exhaust upgrades are really expensive and I am not sure they are warranted in most cases. Having said that it isn't my money. Each year I go to SEMA and I talk to pretty much all of the companies that make BMW systems. There isn't a ton to differentiate, there are some craftsmanship differences. The tone varies but you have to hear them in person to tell, video will not tell you anything so you pretty much have to go to a cars and coffee and hear what the other guys have a go from there. Personally I can't justify the cash for a change in sound, it would take a significant performance improvement that I needed to make be from several grand on exhaust. Just a personal preference I guess

But I am really 50/50 as do like..no love the tone of the standard. Or - yes keep standard exhaust, and put a sport cat on it. Of course, this is not OEM though.

Some people pay a lot of money for better sound systems...
I will pay for a better sound from the engine

I know exhaust sound is mainly a personal preference but the only way to listen to different exhaust is through YouTube. It's really hard to differentiate them if not listening in person.

If the videos are not recorded at the same time and with the same equipment they will not help you at all. And even then they will not tell you how it sounds in real life just how different it sounds to the other ones. I made a video for my Akrapovic exhaust I had on my old 335. When listening to the video it was not something I would have bought but in real life it sounded amazing. |

If you can't access an M2 with the MPE, try to hear IRL an M3/M4 with the MPE. Sound is very similar IMHO.

Getting more technical here. Non OEM exhaust (fabspeed, supersprint) does sounds quite good but I do not trust to replace my whole exhaust system by non OEM parts. As I understand, MPE is a cat back exhaust. You guys think if it is possible to combine a sport cat (from either fabspeed and supersprint) + MPE?

It would be SUPER easy to swap your MPE with an OEM exhaust from a fellow member if you don't like it... plus some cash
