You can't trust BMW weights. The only way to compare is to weigh two cars equipped exactly the same way in the same market. The guy that I linked to had a US M2 manual and purchased a new M2C configured exactly the same. That is about as close to a true weight comparison as you're going to get.
Don't mean to doubt you, but do have a question. Did he have the same amount of gas each time, and by that I mean a full tank?

Again, don't want to get into a C vs OG thing as we all know too well where those kinds of posts go

If you'll read the thread, both tanks were full and the cars were weighed the same day.

https://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1529257

My original point was that someone shouldn't get repremanded for making a post about weighing his M2 just because it's a Competition. Afterall the thread title is about M2 in the general M2 section. It says nothing about "only OG cars."

Curious, what scales did you end up getting? Tossing the idea around myself but there is a pretty wide range of price points out there.

The basic wired Longacre one. I would love the wireless units, but don't want to pay that much. For the handful of times I will use these, I am fine with dealing with some wires.

That sounds right. Did you happen to weigh the AA mid-pipe and the stock part you removed? Also, manual or DCT? Thanks!

I think the DCT weighs about 55 lbs more than the manual tranny.

It came out to 8lbs less for the Midpipe and about 18-19lbs for the wheels.

Update: I have since installed KW Clubsport coilovers, an ER front mount intercooler, ER charge pipes, one size larger tires on the 437M wheels and a 60Ah AntuGravity battery. Everything, except the battery, added some weight. But the battery compensated for them and then some.

Weight with a full tank: 3370
Distribution: 53.5% front, 46.5% rear

Weight with me in the driver seat: 3537
Distribution: 53.1% front, 46.9% rear

The only other weight reduction mod I plan to do is a M Performamce hood, that I am hoping is good for around 30-35 lbs reduction.

Nice the hood should even out the weight distribution just slightly

Finally got around to getting the hood painted and installed this morning. Covid and labor shortage, combined with huge backlog of work, put my hood on a lower priority with my body shop. But they finally got it done. Since the last weigh-in, I've removed the rear seat bottoms and now installed the BMW M Performance carbon hood.

I believe this is about the extent of basic bolt-off weight reduction. After this we are going into trade-off territory, followed by more permanent changes that are, at the very least, not easy to revert back to stock.

Looks like the CF hood is good for about 32-34lbs.

Weight of the car with a completely full tank of gas: 3330 lbs

Here are some pictures, because pictures make everything more interesting

Garage List
2015 Renault RS275R  [9.50]
2019 Renault RS280  [10.00]
2017 BMW M2  [10.00]
2018 Audi Q2  [5.50]
Nice one. 1510kg ‘wet’ is a pretty good result for our tubby M2’s given its still very much a street car.
You could always go with the carbon front guards/fenders which would improve the f-r bias further but they are pricey.
I agree youve probably reached the point of diminishing returns now. 👍

That's a nice setup, Long Acre makes some pretty good stuff. That setup for total weight is fine but if you want to do cross weights, or axle weights, you have to level all four scales relative to each other (I mean seriously close, within 0.2 degrees). Otherwise the total weight is the only truly accurate measurement.

If you want to corner balance the car, you're best bet would be to find a spot you would want to use continuously for corner weighting, mark the outlines of the scales, and level the scales to each other to create a level plane. Once you've done that, you can use that spot with the set amount shims to get accurate readings everything time.

For those wondering how much of affect that could really have, I can take an otherwise perfectly balanced Spec Miata car and, just by turning the adjustable end link on the front sway bar with my fingers, take the car from 50% to 52% cross weight just with pre-load. Granted a Spec Miata is light (around 2400 lbs) but that is certainly a testament to the accuracy requirement of the level platform.

This is super useful information. For the leveling, do you just use a basic spirit level to get horizontal?

The easiest way I've found to do it is to level each scale individually first, then level FL/FR and LR/RR scales to each other, then the last thing to do is the crosses FL/RR FR/LR. When I'm at the track I have a 12' piece of square tubing and a digital angle finder that live in the trailer but a more high tech way to do it is with a transit level.

The initial setup takes a while, but once you have the spots marked out it should be repeatable and consistent. Last but not least, to get a truly accurate reading you'll want to disconnect one sway bar link per axle so you don't have any torsional pre-load in the suspension.

I am at 1487kg with half a tank of fuel.
That equals 3280kg's.

Stock interiour -no electris seats for weight saving reasons during ordering-
Apex wheels
Mperformance suspension
Custom exhaust
Eventuri intakes
CF hood
Blue brakes
Deadweight Industries 104Ah battery (this is alone -17kg/37lbs)

On the planning to further reduce weight

-Back seat delete
-AP racing brakes
-CF bucket sets
-CF roof

Car will end up with 1450kg's/ sub3200lbs easy to be honest and when we are there it will be time for a 911 GT3 LOL

I am at 3,371 (1/2 tank fuel) with some additions (chromoly steel roll bar, fire extinguisher, FMIC, etc.) and deletions (rear seats, factory front seats).

M4 GTS Euro Seats weigh approx 15 lbs each

I’ll corner balance again and get an updated weight with fuel normalized

You guys should also mention transmission variant as well, because the 6MT is considerably lighter than the DCT.

Oh my lord, I would love to have those seats! no doubt they would cost a pretty penny.
