It's launched next month. So will be on sale (Europe) around September?
Maybe later for the US?

Do you know when orders can be placed in the BMW system? Just after launch maybe?

If production starts on July 18th wouldn't that mean cars would be arriving in the US end of August or early September?

My understanding is orders can official be placed when the pricing/ordering guide's are released. Typically about a month before production begins.

In my experience, that has varied drastically by model over the years. Remember this isn't an entirely new car, and we haven't seen confirmation of wider fenders, carbon roof, etc. Time will tell.

If I wait until pricing info, would it be too late to order a 2018 M2 by then? I kind of want to wait for info but if it's 10k more I just want to pick up a 2018.

There will be no wider fenders or carbon roof. It's very obvious and confirmed.

Where was this confirmed?

If your try hard enough there are 2018s out there in stock at dealers around the country right now. So I wouldn't worry about not being able to get one.

For the M2 Comp, if you get on a list now, should be able to get one before end of production.
You can always give up your spot later.

It's going to supersede the current M2, which means it will not be a special version with limited number.

Think of it as a M2 Version 1.2 or maybe 1.3.

First time following a car release are we? It's very obvious there won't be either.

Someone posted some unsupported speculations about fender and CF roof and now you think it's a possibility?

These items are not like a mirror cap where they can just change out before launch.

Looking at "spied photos of the car" is not a confirmation of anything. I never stated that the car would or would not have wider fenders or a CF roof. You took that and ran.

Back up your statement - Post your source data. Everything on these forums is "unsupported speculations" until BMW makes it official.

This is just rude, opinionated, unsubstantiated BS.

Yes, you are correct with other models etc. I believe the initial pricing/ordering guides for the MY16 M2 came out far in advance of production. The MY17 and MY18 guides however both came out about a month before production started. Surmising that it will be the same for MY19 M2 specifically.

Best bet is to wait, there will plenty of N55 M2’s sitting on dealer lots to choose from. By then dealers will be aggressively selling them. It is a win-win to wait it out.

While it would be cool if they made the car wider, I am not sure that would be a big deal - the car is already wide and squat. Look at how similar it looks to my M3 in the picture below...

Now, I would like a CF roof. that just looks awesome and is a distinguising characteristic for BMW ///M.

The current M2 proportions are already ideal. Same length as E46 M3, but almost 3in wider.

If they didn’t spend the money making the M4 GTS wider, I doubt they even consider making the M2 Comp wider. Just not happening.

Am I missing something?

The M2 is wide enough. Any more wider it becomes Aftermarket....Or a cartoon.

Yeah, I think all the other models on the list end the same date so I assume they list it this way for all models that still going forward to the next year, and those that are not. So basically it doesn't tell us anything.

And remember: in any case, a wider M2 design is not possible if it doesn't survive the Störkantendurchlauf (= collision check) at the BMW Leipzig factory.

Keep in mind that the infrastructure at the Leipzig factory also plays a key role: prior to building the M2, a 'collision check' through the production facilities was performed (see the picture below: "Störkantendurchlauf" = interfering edges run-through - source: this video (11:21-11:40)).

If an M2 variant fails that test (too wide), it's either back to the drawing board or build the car (partially) elsewhere, or work with 'add-on' body parts. I cannot see BMW restructuring the Leipzig production facility merely for building an M2 variant.

Conclusion: M2 variant fenders can only become as wide as the "Störkantendurchlauf" test allows. Likely there's still some margin compared to the current M2, but it might be getting tight.
