Indeed.

At least this thing won't be called the CSL. There will be some dignity left.

If this loses over 70 Kgs and that is a big IF, the car should be a decent upgrade over the base car.

The E46 CSL lost about 92 Kgs on it's base car so this could still be quite neat. Hopefully ynguldyn has an update in his April broadcast.

110 kg. And that epic car was SMGII only (no 6MT).

Did I miss some info from a reliable source (not that highly uninformed blog) that there will be a serious effort to shed weight on the CS? They can likely shed 20-30kg by just leaving out stuff like power seats, A/C, rear seats, etc. But to get beyond that will need to start spending more on lightweight material/components... driving the price higher and higher.

It came from @MR who was at a BMW event. We'll know what to expect in a couple of weeks when the M4 CS is unveiled. Still cannot believe how the specifics on that car are so closely guarded.

I was not following the M2 threads very closely. How long before the official unveil did we know specifics on the M2 ??

Is this a good proxy for sub model release? I wouldn't think so. Certainly not a proxy for the LCI.

That was 5 months before the official launch. Data security was probably not very tight. I wonder if Dackelone can get us more information about the M2 CS/Competition as well. I am thinking the same team or part of the team that worked on the M2 will also be working on the M2 CS.

For now, Roman Polanski answers the question in the first 30 seconds of this relaxing Vangelis track of 1990.

Looked up parts for the M4 GTS on etk parts. I did not include the suspension or the S55 engine because there were way too many parts that went into them although the suspension components were really super cheap.

This list is for the M4 GTS and will definitely be offset by the parts that it substitutes and economies of scale for BMW but still thought of just putting it up there.

The parts I did look up and their costs are as follows:

It's nice to see this break down and speculate on cost benefit.

I'm not sure if the carbon hood, roof, trunk is worth the 6k for the small weight reduction if the car isn't limited production. Forget the seats at that price. I would take the exhaust since power potential hinges on free flowing exhaust. Just say no to CCB.

I'd pay for exhaust, splitter, mirrors, decklid (if integrated spoiler) if trying to keep cost down.

I won't pull my deposit if it includes carbon hood, trunk, and roof, but I doubt this happens on M2

The regular S55 exhaust with the valves in Sport is as open as they come IMO. Straight through pretty much. Not sure the MPE adds any power at all, it's there for sound and maybe weight saving.

In that case, leave it off the car. I'm under the impression that the S55 can be tuned to 600hp eazy peazy.

Yeah, you won't want for power I think. Traction however is a different thing...

I'm hoping they do some fender work to allow for wider tires. I learned on a car without traction nannies. Doesn't bother me a bit to be able to rotate the car with the skinny pedal.

I'm telling ya... I'm gonna lay low and watch BMW keep improving the M235 racing and determining how to update/improve the aero and hope they roll on a GTS at the end of this run because The M2 safety car looks DANG good to me

Nice find..

As you know .. I'm fully anticipating this.

The junior marketing analyst in me has been fully anticipating this since SCOTT26 dropped the first crumbs

It's doubtful for the CS. If they build an M2 GTS $$$, then maybe.

It's not too much torque, it's that it all comes rushing in over 200 RPM or so at low revs, and can take you by surprise. If you actually keep the engine over 3-4000 RPM as you would on track, it's perfect. More of a danger on the street as far as I'm concerned.

I'm also running 305 rears on track, and I find I'd like more grip at the front currently. Go figure.
