IMO, It had too much bass and didn't pair well with the MPE. Now car is not as loud and you hear the true mechanics of the turbo and exhaust, makes having MPE a much better experience.
I do think, if I had the stock exhaust I would leave it on. They did a pretty good job on the fake noise TBH, but too much drone in early RPM's. |

I remember a song "cool jerk". It is like inside your head (or your car) you have this supper cool sounding exhaust and you are revving it at the lights and people just walk by your electric car not really noticing how cool you think you are.
I understand the whole reason car manufacturers do this kind of thing but in an M2? Seems like it cheapens the whole M brand. Why not put ASD in formula 1 cars....stupid IMHO.

That's a good idea because, unlike an M2, the current F1 cars need ASD!

I hear no hiss. I mean to hear a hiss over the engine and wind sounds...you got some really sensitive ears. I have an LCI m2 so not sure if that makes a difference.
I don’t mind the ASD. It’s just that at around 2000-2200 rpm freeway or highway driving has some drone. Coding it off it’s quiet at that range which is really why I turned ASD off |

Anyone here with tinnitus? I'm wondering what kind of effect the ASD has on those with tinnitus, either good (creating a positive white-noise-like masking effect) or bad (adding to the tinnitus sounds).

I coded my ASD for the M5/M6 sound. I miss the original M2 sound.
Definitely gonna change it back!

If you prefer ASD on it's time to upgrade your exhaust.

Or you could consider drilling a hole in the floorboards at the back of the car near the exhaust and cover it with thin plastic so you don't inhale too much of that "sound".

I had trouble with my Vgate connecting, from the WiFi devices menu I have to manually select the Vgate, select option "Renew Lease" and "Renew Lease" a second time, my iphone will then connect. Pretty sure my Vgate is faulty as my power button doesn't work (I have to uplug & re-plug when it goes into sleep mode) & most times have re-do the renew lease process.

Not sure if this has been answered or not in this thread but I just installed the harness on my MY18 and I did not have a tray support as pictured below and in the tutorial. Does anyone have the support in their M2, any year, or does the M2 not have a support?
Also, another helpful note, the rear plastic panel has to come straight up or you’ll bend/break the plastic pins that keep it in place. Once you work rubber seal away from the top of the panel (no need to remove it as others have stated) you’ll want to pull straight up. Lastly, ASD delete is a must do. I didn’t realize how intrusively loud it was until it was gone. I can also now hear the turbo. Whoever decided ASD was a good thing in the M2 is a complete moron and should be fired. What I did have were a couple of felt squares stuck to the metal instead. I'll see if I can dig up a picture. Here we go:

OK, according to RealOEM.com, that part was only on cars built before 01/2016.
It looks like cost savings, and that part can be found online for about $25.
