A sunroof adds weight in the worst possible place on a car, up top.

But 6MT gives you more 'connection' etc. I know...I had an E46 M3 6MT, E90 M3 6MT and 1M in the past. Tell me about it. Though throttleblip and hill assist are features in the 6MT M2 which I find a bit not so authentic and not so oldskool. And 6MT is an almost 7K euros(!) option overhere. Cheers Robin |

Are you sure about this? I thought remember reading the M3/4 boys running high tq needed upgraded clutch packs for their DCT whereas the 6MT could cope.

So if you want to (hard)tune the car it's better off with a DCT. Cheers Robin |

Not sure who "Manuel" is, but manual trannies are not dead yet. It was standard in the M2, and Porsche is reintroducing the manual into its GT3 after hearing complaints from its customers about its elimination as an option...
https://www.motormag.com.au/news/160...x-speed-manual But over time, the diehards will probably dwindle further. The number of people who don't even know how to drive a stick, let alone prefer one, is growing every year. They do not know what they are missing in terms of driver union with the car.... |

Yep, that's it. More weight, and in the worst place, plus reduces headroom, adds failure points, more complexity etc... I want the car to be as light and simple as possible. I usually get cars as "stripped" as I can get them, then lighten them some more - lighter battery, lighter exhaust, lighter wheels, get rid of underhood plastics and sound deadeners, take out any spare, tools, rear floor mats, even brake backing plates etc., sometimes swap out the front seats for race buckets... On my older used cars, I usually took out the AC also, but don't do that anymore now that I live in TX lol. The lighter the better in all metrics except sound deadening I suppose. I'd get a manual too, but they don't offer it here. I suppose its why I find building race cars from street cars so satisfying.... I take a LOT of stuff out (got a LS400 down to 3000lb, and my AE86 RWD Corolla down to 2000lb)

That is true! And I do love the lightning fast shifts. It was very tempting to go with the DCT. Could have gone either way. Both transmissions are good choices.

This presumes you track the car. Also as discussed so many times before, the car should have a sunroof and an option to delete for a track intended car. Not having the option is silly. How much difference in lap time will a sunroof make anyway???

You can shove as much horsepower and straight line speed into a shitty looking sedan all you want, but it still won't be able to corner.

what does "shitty looking" and being able to corner have to do with each other? These are both street cars, and you'd never be able to exploit what either car can really do on the street, and unless you are a much better driver than you think you are, I doubt you could drive to the point where it would impact your laptimes on track either. Years ago I raced a Acura TSX on track and it was a great race car - and all that weight on the nose too! That said, I'd be driving an M2 now if I could get an allocation, but it doesn't make the Audi a bad car - bland looking maybe. I've had 4 of them so far.
