What would you get after your 335i/3er?
Hey guys
I may be putting my car up on the market Two things: 1) How much is my car worth? Super clean 2009 335i coupe with 47k miles, still in factory warranty. Has all the bells and whistles, MSRP at 55K black on black steptronic. Condition: 9.5/10 with new tires 2) What is the next upgrade? What would you get? Personally I think I may want to venture outside of BMW as I had two different ones in the last couple years. Curious to know what you would purchase next; give me your top two choices BMW or not. A couple things that caught my eye was the Range Rover Sport, Cayenne, E550, and some other boring cars.

I just got my 09 with about 45k on it for around 26k. has some exterior blemishes so probably not as good condition as yours and not fully loaded but I didn't really need all the extras.
But mine was the lowest priced I saw around, you should be able to get at least that for yours. |

26k for an 09 coupe is super cheap, that was a deal. As far as SUV's, boring but practical so that is your call. My dad had an E550 coupe. It is fast-ish on paper, probably 0-60 in high 4's. Extremely boring car with zero steering feel. I don't think I've ever driven a more power assisted steering car in my life. The sport button makes the car extremely jerky so you don't use it, so you're left with a luxury car with 2 doors an unusable back seat (for coupe).

Yeah, just paid 26k myself, 09 coupe, fully loaded, steptronic, 37k miles, LeMans blue with black interior and performance package. I know, a steal, but I flew across a few states to get it. Down here in Florida most were around 35-36, only blue one was 39!. I personally would shoot for 28 or 29 on yours and start off asking 30-31. Hope this all helps, where you live makes a HUGE difference, in my case 10k...cars are generally much cheaper on east coast.

What your car is worth is something you'll need to figure out. I suggest you use sources like Galves (wholesale value), Kelly Blue Book, Black Book (wholesale value), Endmund's, and BMW's and other retail outfit's (focus on ones in your area) asking price for similar cars.
As for what I would get next, well, that depends upon whether the driving experience is still my first priority after simply obtaining transportation in a car that can address all of my mundane daily driver needs. Assuming the driving experience is still paramount, I don't believe in fixing that which isn't broken, so I'd choose either: 1 - F32 328i 2 - F30 328i or F30 320i... which one would depend on what's available at the dealer and what kind of deal I can get on one vs. the other, but I know both will get the job done. I guess conceivably, I might end up with an F30/F32 335 as I have now and for much the same reason I have one now: the exact car I wanted was on the dealer's lot, but it was a 335 instead of a 328 and the dealer made it financially worth my while to just go with the 335. I'm sure I wouldn't go to the dealer seeking a 335. If the driving experience is no longer paramount, or if BMW no longer holds the crown in the compact sport sedan/coupe class, I would have to test drive quite a few competing cars such as those from Lexus, Infiniti and Honda. I would almost certainly go with a Japanese product because if I've subordinated the car's handling ability to other things, price/ total cost of ownership, and reliability would be my top priorities. Also, I might consider a Hyundai Equs, but I know nearly nothing about Hyundai, so it's hard to say for sure if I really would. All I know is those cars are loaded with gizmos and they are a good deal less dear than a comparable BMW and their 10 year warranty is appealing.

The next time I get something (it will be a while) I would like to get an old accord as a DD and then something much less practical but really fun to drive. Maybe a brz sti, an slightly old p-car, or maybe a 1series... I think they might be the last fun to drive bmws...

There's just something about the E90 platform that I really love, so after my 335, the only direction I can see myself going would be an E90 M3.

Audi B8 S4 for me next. My pops has got a new S8 and I went with him and I test drove a new S4. It's quick, looks great, and the interior is gorgeous. Quick look at the S8 for a little car porn:
