Does the 335xi with sports package have an oil cooler?

I've been trying to find the final word on this.

Would an '09 335 with x-drive and the sports package have the oil cooler? The car does not have the optional 18" wheels. Just the sport 17".

Thanks for the answers!

I think this changed over the years. I know that the 2011 E92 xDrive with the M Sport package and the base 17" wheels does not. You had to get the optional wheels to get the oil cooler. This was irritating to me because all the sales collateral at the time said you did get the increased top speed limiter and the oil cooler with the M Sport package on an xDrive no matter what the wheels were. I only realized I didn't have the oil cooler when I was investigating getting the Performance add-on.

If you have access to the car, look at the front of the right front wheel well. If there's a grill there you have the oil cooler. If the front of the wheel well is solid you don't.

My 2012 has it

I have a 2012 E92 xDrive with the M Sport package and it does indeed have the grill referenced above. I have the optional 18" wheels/tires.

No

Can also see it by looking at engine bay, much easier if shopping for car and looking at pictures

No. You needed to get the 18 inch wheels.

Ok so since the consensus is I don't have the oil cooler, can it be added?

Thanks,

Thanks,
I'm curious too, I have the exact same setup as you. Are you planning to run a chip/software?

Thanks,
yes, stock or after market. but its pretty much useless unless you track or want big power. stock helps cool oil since without that 335s would overheat on track.

Thanks,
If you are going to spend the money: get the PPK2. Comes with the oil cooler, larger fan, and upgraded software.

I was planning to do a Cobb reflash on the car. Do I need the oil cooler to really take advantage of this?

Thanks,

Where do you live and what do you plan to do to the car (e.g. track, strip, nothing, etc...)

I live in Denver. I'll drive it to the mountains and play on the back roads. I have an STI and I always say I'm going to go to the track, and I just never end up making it. I have a buddy who teaches for the BMW driving school so I would love to do that from time to time, but again the likelihood is low.

Thoughts?

Playing on an uphill grade in the summer for an extended period of time could be a worry, yes. Then again, there's also the possibility that it would be just fine. I don't know.

The PPK2 comes with the larger fan and a water cooler, but it assumes the oil cooler as a prereq. You could probably get an oil cooler installed, but it would be extra.

I bought a preowned 335xi with the 18" wheels and sport seats... I have an oil cooler, what's the best way to tell if I have the ppk 1 or ppk 2 package?

Thanks

This is how I understand it: The penis power kit (aka PPK) is not something that comes with all cars; it's an after-factory add on at your dealer. So, your oil cooler is a factory item. The PPK would be something else entirely and independent of your cooler's presence.

What does the PPK generally cost?
