Question about HID Kit. Red Car on Lift symbol

Apologies if this has already been asked, but I'm having a bit of an issue with my HID kit.

I installed them about 2 months ago (in my halogen housings) to test to make sure my car will accept them okay. After 2 months of trying to code / playing with code eliminators, I've concluded they do not want to play nicely with my car.

I'm actually getting the red car on a lift symbol on my dashboard, with no other lights, which according to the manual means lighting system failure. I was getting this pretty much early on when I put my HIDs on. The lights always fired right up though and never had any issues.

I have removed my HIDs, and have since replaced them with my stock halogen light bulbs, and the lift car light is still on.

My question is is there a way to reset this without the use of the dealer?

Part of me thinks I have to drive around with the car for a little while for the car to relearn that the headlights are stock. Another part of me is thinking disconnecting the battery can do it. Any suggestions?

Thanks for any help in advance!

by the way, i wasn't going to leave my HIDs in my halogen housings. I wanted to resolve the issue of an uncooperative HID kit before ordering my headlights. I'm getting the DEPO's that accept H7's.

It has been encountered. You have to code HID into the VU or something like that. Make the car think it came with it stock. It's in one of the threads.

IMPORTANT: Why in gods name did you put HID's in your reflector housing?!?! People like you blind people on the road, and it's also illegal. Even if it's cheap, it's wrong, you get less light output, and just seems cheap. Please buy a set of projectors and stop blinding people.

I have an MSV70 module. I've tried coding to stop the alerts for low beam cold and low beam warm settings and it wouldn't let me change them.

Like I said, I wasn't going to shell out $800 for my projectors and HIDs and still have issues throwing codes. I wanted to resolve the codes first, knowing how sensitive this car is. Also, any idiot that knows how to install bulbs properly can make them not glare nearly as much as people expect. Aftermarket projectors not DOT approved are as illegal as is putting HIDs in a Halogen housing. Its retards in impalas that shove their lights in that have their cut off at eye level. Mine wasn't.

Yeah my mistake, I just read the first 15 pages now.

FINALLY some home to an otherwise very frustrating situation! Thank you very much for leading me to that thread. It has already helped a lot. I PM'd OP to ask a few clarity questions.

No problem. I had the same problem you did. No HID's, makes the car look really outdated. So I got a set of projectors. The angel eyes make it worth the $600 I paid.
