Insurance and the 335
Well my dad got our statefarm insurance bill in today and the semi-anual payment was $2,074
He thought it was a mistake and called the insurance agent to double check. Turns out thats the right price.....so $4,200 bucks a year .....unbleivable I have all the discounts you can get and its 4200.....guess its time to switch companies I know teen insurance is way more than adult....is there anyone that knows how much theyre paying for their 335 insurance and is under 21? |

Insurance
I was with State Farm for over 15 years- no accidents, no tickets.
My rates were absurd. My '06 330i was $900/yr '03 Pathfinder $900/yr '96 Caravan $400/yr I switched and nearly cut everything in half. I now see LOTS of SF ads touting the whole price issue- I think they now know they were too high. |

YEAH, Florida Blows for insuring BMWs for one, Miami worse than anywhere else.
Here on the other coast my insurance went up $70 over the full coverage I was paying on my 05 RX-8. Funny, car costs twice as much to replace, but coverage only moved a little bit. Good driving record, Excellent Credit, Getting old and being married all help though. Try insuring a Suzuki Hayabusa. Lots of folks cannot even find someone to insure them. I have USAA and will never leave, they treat you like a King, the service is the best, and none of the Mickey Mouse "We're not paying this or that" bullshit from them. I recommend them 100% if you're active duty or retired.

Geico is quoting me about $1800/year and I'm 21 with no discounts and I live in Los Angeles. Fully insured with high coverage too.
AAA cost me $2900/year for my 325i at 20 years old with the same high coverage.

I used to have a horrible driving record in my late teens, early 20's.. tickets, suspended license for a few years from riding a little too fast on my GSXR one too many times.. Just turned 36 and haven't had a point on my record for about 10 years now.. Knocking on wood.. |

This is why I always call my agent for a quote BEFORE buying a car! I'm mid 30's and married, with supreme credit and a great driving record, so I don't pay very much. But still, I want to know what kind of insurance bill I'm going to be hit with before I buy any car. I consider it part of the whole buying process.
Your monthly insurance is $345, probably about 50% of the lease/purchase payment. That is insane, but the general statistics bear out that young drivers have disproportionately higher accident/tickets rates...... |

I'm a 24 year old doctor and went with Farmer's. They quoted me $76/month after all the doctor discounts and no accidents in my entire life or tickets. Got the multiple car discount as well.
