How did I end up with a 09/06 E90?

I've had my car about two weeks. I just checked the build date and it's 09/06. Is it normal for a car to sit around for that long before it's sold? I'm just wondering why my car was sitting on the dealers lot for so long. Any reason I should be worried? The car looks and runs great.

Yeah that definitely sounds like it is sitting in the dealer for too long. Maybe it was a demo or a test car? How many miles was on the odometer when you took delivery?

Could be many of reasons...color combination...options...demo...many reasons.

Did you do a custom order or the dealer told you that they had one on their lot?

As long as it didn't have a lot of miles don't give it a second thought and just enjoy your wonderful automobile. The only people I've seen worrying about running changes are the 335 owners--since that engine was a fairly radical new step for BMW, there are changes like oil coolers and (hopefully soon) high-pressure fuel pumps that would make one be more focused on build date.

Maybe they were cars with bad fuel pumps which needed to be replaced before they could be sold?
