Llumar vs 3M which one is better?
I just asked the price to tint shop
they say Llumar for $200 and 3M for $220 I think this is a quite reasonable price Which one is best for E92? I have navigation and comfort access some people have trouble when they have a Llumar... the tint shop owner recommend me 3M because this is a non metalized flim what do you think guys? |

Don't go for either. Get the ceramic.

HuperOptik offers ceramic tint. Ceramic is non-metallic and is better than metallic in terms of keeping the heat out, however it tends to be more expensive and may not be as dark as you'd want the tint to be in comparison to metallic.
The price you got quoted is just around what I paid for my Llumar, which is metallic, and has not given me problems with comfort access (CA). Your tint will not affect navigation performance; the sharkfin antenna is on the roof. Metallic tint could degrade your AM radio reception. 3M makes good stuff but I have only experienced Llumar. Do a - tons of info on this topic.

12 years ago, I had Llumar installed on my last car and I had no complaints, although it did scratch (my fault, methinks). Given risk to radio interference and given technology developments, newer films, like ceramics, might be better choice. Dunno.

I've posted this before but I'm not feeling Huper Optik. I supposedly got HO30 on my windows and it looks weird. (Don't know how to confirm it's actually HO) It looks kind of foggy and reflective. Sometimes it looks OK, but most of the time I don't care for it. Check out my garage pics and you can see what I mean.

The best is non-metallic (not to compromise any type of radio transmitting), that shields the solar energy the best in relation to how much the visibility must be compromised. Has anyone any figures/comparisons?

I would get the 3M. The fact that i know for sure its non-metallic and they are probably the best adhesive producer in the world. I know that my film will stick on the glass and do not blister after a few years. Their new crystalline is also a good bet. It never interfere with my GPS (use a PDA based) and my garage opener.

Here we got a brand called VKool that's very good as well. I don't think it's available in the US (perhaps under a different brand?). But when it comes to adhesive, I agree with eurobmw that 3M is the one to beat.
