Wait for March Production?
I'm ready to order a 328xi Sport Wagen - I've figured out all the options and the colors I want. Should I wait for a March production?
I am in no hurry. I know that BMW incorporates small changes in its production line as needed and I really don't know of any major changes that will take place to the 3-Series line-up, other that the intro of the Cabrio and the new colors, but I keep thinking that I would just as soon wait for the March production...just in case there is something added. Whaddya think? |

The short answer is 'yes'. A 3-month delivery wait once I had ordered in January last year meant that I got the post-March 1 production and ended up getting professional navi for free! I can't be sure what you'll get extra - maybe nothing - but wait just in case

Using that logic, why not wait for April production, or May production, or June production...just in case there are improvements made?
Just order it already dude, it's impossible to stay ahead of the curve (as evident by the announcement of the 335 sedan 4 months after taking delivery of my 330...and an M3 sedan around the corner). Order and enjoy cause the wait'll kill ya!

As for the free professional navigation, I suspect there were other reasons. Perhaps his car was delayed / tied up and they had one that was very similar but with the navigation and gave it to him. This is ofcourse is not unheard of even in the states. -Brett

You may not have a choice if you wait any longer....depending on dealer allotments, orders placed today already have March production dates.

if you have nothing to loose, why not wait. just order your car and say you want your dealership's first alloted car for march production.

Depends on how badly and how soon you want the car.
From experience over the past few years the changes in March will be small, if there are any. and the big changes come around in September (engines, body, new options etc), at least for the 3 series. But I could be wrong It may be academic if the dealer only has production slots post March 1 now, but if you can stand the wait go and see what deal you can do stipulating that the car is to be a March build. At least then you'll have the chance of getting an early March build and so shortening the time it takes to get the car to you vs waiting until March to order... for an April production slot. If they can get a build before March and can confirm that there will be no changes you could always order on the stipulation that if the specification is changed you will not accept the car, as I guess it would take until March for the car to get to you and the board will be alive with news of any changes by then. If you really want to wait for more toys then the 1 series revisions for march might suggest what September holds http://www.worldcarfans.com/news.cfm...series-arrives

I read somewhere that there may be a new factory ipod integration kit coming for the 3 series in march or so. Can't seem to find the thread now. That may be a reason to wait if its really important to you, but in general I agree with the above posters to just buy now. Waiting is no fun.

The reason I am leaning this direction is that when the E93 was announced this feature was announced with a delayed availability of March production. No said announcments have been made in regards to the other E90s. -Brett

So it is a delayed option according to that file for all vehicles. I had not heard one way or another, so good to know. -Brett
