Spring Polishing Question
Relative novice here. I did my first detail myself last fall with zaino products. I used zpc fusion polish which helped with gloss, but didn't get out all the swirls and spiderwebs. I am thinking of stepping up to a more abrasive polish this spring such as menzerna IP and do a two step polish.
My question is if I can use the zpc as a finishing polish for the IP or if I should buy a menzerna finishing polish. Just looking to save a little cash. Thanks for any input the community has. |

You should be fine using the ZPC as a finishing polish. Will it give you the exact results you're looking for? Cannot say for sure. Your best bet is to try the combo with ZPC and if it doesn't work the way as planned, do it again next polishing session with another polish combo.

Get some IP or SIP from detailed image. OR get some power finish and possibly save a step depending on the defects/damage/level of correction you are after

What's the "best" or should I say most effective coumpounds "Meguiar's", Menzerna Poorboy, or any other?
Swirls are pretty bad (like the one shown by the guys who lended is Porsche to his supposed friend thread lately). Blue car. I usually use Zaino products but i don't believe that ZPC will be enough this time. |

OP, I am very novice about this, just bought the full Zaino line plus a dual action polisher, but did you use a proper cutting pad with the Zaino Z-PC ? As I read in the FAQ section, for heavy swirls you need a cutting pad, and you can also use Z-PC as a final polish with a finishing pad.
Or maybe you did everything by hand ?

I used an orange light cutting pad. I did use a polisher that I borrowed from a friend (the Griot's Garage kit from Tire Rack), but it was my first time, so I may not have done a great job. I spent a lot of time reading on this forum and Detailed Image site to learn as much as I could. I could definitely tell a difference after polishing, but there are still quite a bit of swirls.
I bought the car CPO last summer. The paint was in pretty good shape, but most of the scratches were from the previous owner. I only hand wash (sometimes automatic touchless in the winter) and am careful to prevent more scratches in the clear coat. I will try to post some pics later today. I am thinking that Menzerna Intensive Polish should be enough to get the paint 90-95% better which is good enough for me since it is a daily driver. My main question is whether there is an advantage to buying a menzerna finishing polish such as PO106FA, PO85RD, or Final Finish or if I could use the ZPC as a finishing polish. thanks for the input so far. |
