This was posted recently & anytime we have M2 CS related content I believe it's worth sharing.

It seems like a strange comparison to me. The M2 CS is the car I thought would be the easy favorite in terms of daily driving performance & the Evora GT would be the track day special.

The Lotus having a Camry engine (supercharged) isn't extremely appealing to me. I wonder how it handles heat soak on the track? It also sounds fairly nice but its eh for me. The rear engine dynamic of it is certainly something it's got going for it but at 3100lbs, it's losing some of that lightweight brilliance that I would associate with a Lotus.

What do you guys think?

Haven’t watched yet, but in my mind the Evora is more a GT car than the other Lotus offerings. I don’t think the rear seats are as usable but maybe not such a stretch in comparison from that standpoint.

I'd love to see a comparison against the emira in the future. I hope they produce that car for a small eternity so I can grab one eventually!

I drove by this when they were doing the beauty shots. Both Cars looked amazing together. A lot of people really like this road around here. Its fun, and the views are amazing but I think their are better roads that also have less traffic.

I think that for so long, BMW's being compared to dedicated sports cars is what makes BMW, BMW. What other company has so reliably turned out everyday/entry luxury cars that also give true dedicated performance cars a run for their money? I feel like this review sums up my experience between my Cayman S and my M2C. The P car was a better sports car but I couldn't live with it as my only car. The M2C is absolutely a single solution vehicle for me.

I always like these guy's videos. That's a good review.

I reckon the winner simply depends on the frame of mind you are in at the time. I love them both.

I liked the comment on the urgency of the CS. That's it in a nutshell and agree that the DCT is the better choice because of this. It's always chomping at the bit. No matter what intention you have when setting off on your drive it always ends up manic. You can't relax in this car.

The CS is obviously the one to choose if you have one car though due to the sheer practicality.

The Lotus would be a joy on a windy road, manual transmission with perfectly chosen ratios, the world's best steering, the melody, and in a weird way more relaxing as you become one with the road rather than owning the road in the CS.

The ideal solution here is to have both cars. Drive according to frame of mind. What a garage that would be.

I had the DCT on my E90 M3 with the GTS transmission tune. I didn't love how it behaved in bumper to bumper traffic. It is more like a manual transmission in that sense.

Now whether or not that was fixed and how much it should even matter, I don't know. At least the ZF has that going for it. Also, with these new cars and the amount of torque they have, I'd imagine the ZF will outperform the DCT in terms of its life expectancy.

Yes it's a terrible auto but a great manual. Grandma mode is reasonable in traffic but it's never go to be in the same league as the ZF for brain off commuting.

The evora is a neat car and always has been. Comparing the two cars is a bit of a stretch but these guys are really far down the food chain in terms of what cars they can get at the same time so here we are.

It’s a neat review. As someone who rides bikes on these same roads I do have an issue with this style and speed of driving on public roads but eh .. no harm done so far.

Enjoy your cars regardless of the brand folks.

I am glad they finally uploaded it to their channel. I have been trying to catch the whole episode since it aired over the summer. At work we have a TV on for customers and we leave it on the Motortrend channel. I kept seeing bits and pieces of it.

Pedal or Petrol? Assuming you mean pedal, I'll just leave this here as it seems to match the post .

I think it's a reasonable comparison. The m2 is lauded for practicality and a usable back seat, but it seems very few, especially in the CS model, use the practicality. For me my m2C is a weekend car. In the CS price range it's reasonable to cross shop a Cayman GTS 4.0 and the Evora GT if you want a manual. The new Emira is very compelling, but sadly you can't pair the supercharged v6 with a dual clutch trans.

I drive it 3 out of 5 work days during the warmer seasons and take the kids to daycare in it with a pair of child seats in the back. The practicality was everything! We've done a few family trips, and I've done a big 2000 mile road trip/track days trip in it as well.

That's very impressive. With snow tires I imagine it can tackle a lot. The back seat in the m2 is surprisingly spacious.

Just to chime in, I have used my comp as my only car for the past couple of years. I know the CS is a lot more collectable than the Comp, but if you're not worried about putting miles on the car, there is absolutely no reason not to use it as a daily if you don't have a big family.

I get the comparison they're making in this video, however they're pretty clearly thinking of them as second cars. And to be fair, that's probably what these two are to most people.

But if they'd come at it with the mindset of choosing a primary vehicle, i'm sure they would have come to a different conclusion.

I think M2cs have such a presence in person, all variants really (M2/M2c included). The bulldog stance of the car appeals to me like few others do. My car is a weekend toy, I rarely if ever take more than one person yet have no desire for "sports" cars like the Lotus, GT4, Corvette, etc.

The only other car that has my attention is a 992 C2S/GTS/GT3. Only the 992 chassis appeals to me (The 991 GT3 is the exception to my rule).

I frankly find it flattering that the M2cs is compared to these cars.

I daily the CS and it's great. Very little stop and go traffic on my commute, so the 6MT is perfect. I do the grocery shopping, and the CS handles it perfectly. Take the kids to school here and there. There is no other true 4 seater I'd rather have right now. Would love to see a 6MT G80CS, but I doubt that will happen.

For a third car, the Lotus looks like a great alternative for the GTS/GT4. I would be concerned about maintenance down the line, but I'm sure having a Toyota engine helps.

I daily my M2C and it's technically my second car. I originally had no intention of racking up 23k miles in just a few years. I have a "beater" Xterra for use when the weather is foul or the ambient temp is under 40F, but it tends to sit and collect dust. I'm also rocking child seats and the kids love every chance to ride in the back.

My neighbor has an Evora GT, and while the rear seats are more of a padded shelf with 1/4" of legroom, it's a very well put together car and I can see the appeal. The GT has much more presence than the plain vanilla Evora. We are supposed to swap keys soon, and I'm excited to drive it.
