E90 window trim drip trim removal?

Hi, just replaced one of my doors and on this door it has a black rubber trim. On my car it has a metal silver/chrome one so i am trying to take the black rubber off to put the silver/chrome one back on to match the rest of the car.

How do you take it off?

When I am trying to take it off it just breaks. It seems really fragile and I noticed corrosion below and I the black rubber seems like it’s almost welded it self to the metal/corrosion

I think it actually might be glue or something

Pry up on the backside of it from the door panel.

That silver trim is a nightmare to snap into place on its rubber strip.
Should’ve pulled that off as 1 whole piece.

Ahh ok. Well hopefully I’ll be able to get the rubber track piece which was under the silver trim off. But the main problem is on the door I’ve just put on the car. It has the black rubber trim, rather than the silver/chrome trim. But I can’t get it off and the bit I have managed to peel off, it looks like it’s glued maybe but the whole underneath just looks ruined. It looks like it’s not possible to fit the track and then the trim even if I could get it off.

Were you explaining how to take the black rubber trim off the new door I have put on the car?

The first 3 pics show the new door with the black trim which I can’t figure out how to get off and looks ruined.

The 4th pic shows the track left on the old door from where I removed the chrome/silver top piece

And the 5th pic just shows another door with the chrome/silver trim

Yes I’m explaining how to get the old trim off
From the inside of the door, (with door panel off) pry up on the bottom of the seal.
Hard to explain.
Post a photo of the back of the door.

Also, try to put the silver trim on the black seal first before installing

Ok, thanks.

So put the silver trim back on the window which has the track left in and then take off as one piece? Or take the trim track out of the old window, put the silver trim and track together and then install?

Here are the pics

You can try to put the silver trim back on with the black strip installed on the old door.
I had a hard time when I did that.

To remove either black strip. Remove the inner window strip (strip above door panel clips) And use a wide pry tool to lift it up.
A flat head will work, but high chances of bending the strip you’re reusing.

The tip of the pry tool will sit under the exterior seal and the body of the pry tool should sit on the door frame (where the inner seal is) and that’s how you’ll pry it up.

On the all black seal, just rip it off. It’s no good.
On the seal you’re re using, pry/lift it a little at a time in different areas so it doesn’t bend as much.

Brilliant, thanks for that!

I have managed to get the black rubber trim off and put the chrome trim back on the new door.

Another question if you can help with this lol; I need to lower the window on the old door to be able to lift off the silver trim and track. Now, it’s not plugged in so I have no power. I do have a 12v power supply and the regulator/motor plug is accessible. Do you know which pins I can apply power to, to put the window down? Or know how I may find this out?

Thanks

Got there in the end. I used the old loom to power the other window. The only thing is on one end the little rubber retaining bit has snapped off but apart from that, all good!

Thanks
