To own any car in Singapore is insane. I miss that region of the world. Richard Mille watch....curious to see what else he has in the garage now!

Great video!
I totally am with him that the car makes you feel young again. The nostalgia of my past BMW cars and its driving characteristics made me buy the car.

My family and I spent a few days over there in 2019 for business/pleasure. Our local friends were telling us how much it cost to own and register a car over there. It was shocking. Ironically, we stayed in the financial district and we saw lots of Crazy Rich Asian cars driving around.

The M2 Comp goes for $250k USD in Singapore and the price for the CS has not been disclosed (sold out before open market availability).

From memory, I think they have the odds and evens plate system like Manila too? You can only drive on certain days depending on your number plate.

You got car enthusiasts buying this for future museum collections - I hope some are driving this regularly.

No use garage queening it only to find you can't buy fuel for it in 10-15 years. That would be like buying the world's best VHS player and looking forward to decades of blockbuster rentals.

Couldn't agree more, despite having little annoying problems or flaws, it's still the ultimate driving machine. That driving feeling is nowhere to find or even close compare driving others

This car will be more epic in the future and has really helped M to stay relevant, while transforming itself for the future. Exactly for this reason I kept my DCT e92 and added the manual M2CS to drive these cars....since it is hard to predict future

Last time I was there my Uber driver in a civic told me the car costed him around $80k USD, and around 10k every few years to keep your license active. The ability to drive over there is an absolute luxury.

Oh yeah, the local Grab cars there were primarily Honda HRV's and they were all over 100k easy. And I haven't looked recently, but when I was there it was $0.75 to our $1 so it's not cheap. Cross the border over to Malaysia....and live like a king. lol.

Great video explaining the intangible bond between a driver and a car. This intangible bond is responsible for billions in profits, tax revenue, ecosystem of suppliers and maintenance services.

I watch these types of videos and read posts about owners who love their cars for the same reasons I do - only to come away depressed that my tax dollars are being used to promote electric vehicles - the so-called future.

While I don't have a problem with electric vehicles per se, I don't want ICE to go away, nor do I care for neutered marquee cars like an AMG 63 with a 4cylinder hybrid. I want a v8 roar! And no, this isn't like the horse/buggy giving way to the ICE. That was market forces. There wasn't gov't intervention forcing the change. My 6 year old son always talks of owning a v12, all the cars he draws are v12's as is what he builds out of Legos...provided he can earn the money he too should be able to buy an old m8 E31 v12 and suffer the horrors of ownership yet enjoying the occasional afternoon in the twisties where everything works The problem will be registration or the lack thereof many years from now.

The tech involved in electric and hybrid is quite impressive to be frank. That said, the notion that v8's and even i6's will be collectors cars just rubs me raw given that I don't want that yet I'm paying for precisely that.

usa is one of the cheapest places to buy cars and a lot of fake it like you make it types and lease offers.

a 488 costing $250k here would be $900k in singapore and you need a coe certificate which is like a taxi medallion allowing you privilege to drive. the cost is based on engine size, etc but for a 488 you are looking at $80k a year.

that means if you keep the car for 5 years, you would have paid $400k just for the coe. these certificates are often traded like any other bullion over there in addition to parking spaces and license plates.

also financing in asia is very strict. for a large purchase like this you are likely needed to put 50% down and the highest term bank would allow is 60 months.
so your looking at $450k down and $7.5k+interest for 60 months if you needed to finance, although most just pay in full.

don't even get me started on me owning my dream house on the peak which goes for $150k+ per sq/ft
