M2 CS delivery - Australia (HS - M-DCT - 2NH - BLK 763M - PSS)
Finally, after enviously reading other owners' delivery threads I get to make my own. I thought I'd make my delivery thread a little more personal as we've seen plenty of photos and heard plenty about how good this little machine is. Nothing further to add here.
For me, it's deja vu. Back in 2012, I was driving a 6MT E82 135i and the 1M had been out for about 6 months already. I had tried to get into one early on, but with only 100 units at the time allocated to Australia and the huge early depreciation hit I'd take on the 135, cooler heads prevailed. 6 months on, Australia got allocated another 200 units, the depreciation curve had slowed and somebody cancelled their order. I still have that AW 1M today with 71k kms on board... and my wife stayed married to me. Driving home in the 1M on Day 1 felt like I was driving a completely different beast to the 135i. That same feeling was replicated today. 2019 saw my first child born. I thought I better act the responsible parent and be more practical. So I ordered a M2C in HS - the practicality criteria fulfilled by going DCT. What a car! My first DCT and I loved it. Still married too. Then the CS landed, and the CS price tag did too. Out of budget, out of brownie points with the fairer half, I let this one slide... as long as I could. Constantly annoying my local dealer for a discount to make it work for me, but no luck. Then Covid hit us hard in Victoria, and the state locked down. Cancelled orders, a lack of business confidence, it left a few of the 78 CS allocations in Australia available. My second (and last!) child was born in December, 2020 - a proper Covid lockdown baby. Time to shape up and be responsible. CS ordered in HS, DCT. Practicality? TICK. Found a dealer willing to make the numbers work for me, and today that beast was delivered. I couldn't help but smile as I left the dealership, and a few minutes later knew that I was in something very special, a rekindling of that first drive home in the 1M. Love the combo, but I am a bit biased! I have a similar story with trying to source a 1M, initially, but I missed out on the last allocation in Texas back in 2011 because of some unforeseen circumstances. Fortunately, I managed to find a CS and maintain my marriage, as well. That is not so easy when it comes a significant other that could care less about cars!
Bravo for having two kiddos in the M2, as well! I have one and I know he will enjoy the rides over the years. |

Congrats!
So did you swap out gold for black wheels or planning to swap black for gold? Couldn’t make that out from the pics?

It came with black/PSS which was my preference as a daily driver. But I absolutely love the gold as well, so picked up a set for semi slicks and track days.

Thanks for sharing your story! Welcome to the CS club! I felt the same way driving my CS for the first time home after picking it up.

My 3 year old is very aware of what is Mommy's SUV vs Daddy's car! Some of the best memories growing up involved my parents 2002, so I can only hope the same type of thoughts will be locked in my son's mind forever.

Great story! There are so many parallels between the CS and the 1M and it is not surprising that many of us found our way to both. I can only be grateful that I am able to have the best of both!

Those two treasures won't be in child seats forever. Though very young, they are soaking it in without fear, and enjoying it with absolute pleasure every single minute they're in the car with you. ..... aaaaaaaaandnd one day, you wake up finding yourself in a vintage electrified H87CS your son is driving you in (to your elderly care residence after a weekend lunch), and you'll reminisce about today thinking, "God I wish I could still drive that wondrous M2CS" lol But seriously, well done and well picked

Great pics and nice to see you sharing your new beloved with the family as well. Start them young!
Enjoy the miles, they seem to fly by with the CS so quickly.

The kids love these cars. My little guy jumps right in to climb in his seat. Looks like you'll have just enough room. I'm about to add a second child seat in the back.
