Cool, it’s on the way. Yeah it’s N52, can’t get it any cheaper than that

Exactly. You buy it once from FCP, then it's free after that except for shipping. That's a great deal for maintenance items such as this, which you're likely to have to do every couple of years.

Hopefully that is actually branded Contitech. I previously bought control arms with bushings from Amazon that were branded Dorman and they were straight up junk only lasted 3 months.

A dorman bmw product lasted three months? Damn that's probably four more than average.

In my defense I had a good view of dorman as a brand before that because I used to work at Autozone in high school and that was the "nice" stuff you could get there, duralast is definitely worse

I have (only) 7K miles on it - so far no issues.
Idler pulley and tensioner were identical to factory ones.
Belt had while lettering (OEM was green)

dorman specialty repair parts are usually fine.

random dorman parts are just chinese parts in a dorman box.

I've got 72k on my conitech belt. It's actually still the OE belt from the factory (the Pervious owner just changed the tensioner, not the belt). I don't see any visible cracks or wear on the belt so I'll just let it be

I guess they sure are. What I thought was that dorman got a part that has a failure prone design and engineered it not to and then sold it. Since these hydro bushings fail somewhat often on xdrive i supposed they would have done that same thing with these, nope.

Got it today. Surprised it came so quick. Apparently came from rock auto, which I thought was a bit odd. Anyways, is the idler pulley bolt also supposed to be aluminum? Or just the tensioner?

only bolts that go into the block are aluminum.

idler bolts into a bracket IIRC.
