ZHP Shift Knob Dimensions..

Hey Team!

I already an aftermarket ZHP "style" shifter, but it feels a little small to me still.

Does anyone with a genuine BMW ZHP shifter have a ruler handy? Could you do me a HUGE favor and take the below measurements for me?

Cheers!

Oddly enough, I am replacing my worn ZHP knob tomorrow. Happy to measure it for you. I'll subscribe to this to put it to the top so I don't forget.

As the owner of 3 ZHP knobs, I feel like it's my duty to do this ...

Width: 47.3 mm
Length: 55.5 mm
Height (including silver ring): 79.0 mm

Wahooo!

Thanks to you both for your efforts!

It does appear my "ZHP Style" aftermarket unit is much smaller then the real deal. Explains why it still felt a little weird to me.

I think I will be ordering the real deal shortly!

The real one is worth it! There's a reason I have multiple - this knob should be on all manual transmissions cars, ever.

I installed mine while my car was still on the turntable at BMW Welt. The look on the car presenter's face was priceless!

Sadly, it is looking a bit poorly so I am ordering a new one. It's the LeatherZ version without the ///M insert, just plain 6spd pattern.

ZHP shift knob is a MUST for 6spd manuals.
It is almost perfect - I just wish i didn't have the "M" logo on it, but other than that is about 10000000x better than the super tall OE shift knob.

Had mine for... 6? or 7? years, ZERO wear or any signs of issues. Looks brand new.

Frankly I didn't really feel much difference with the ZHP and my stock M sport one.

Should've gotten a weighted one instead.

I agree; the M sport knob is about 95% as good as the ZHP. My wife's 2011 has it, and I don't see any need to swap it out.

You can get them from leatherz.com without the ///M. But at a premium price - evidently to get that insert they have to cannibalize another shift knob.

After nine years but only 48K mine is looking a bit worn. I ordered a new one.

OP should get a MOMO Anatomic. Locks onto the lever shaft with 3 needle-point set screws. Perfectly weighted. The current version has an excellent leather pattern that matches the boot. I have one on my E90 that started life in my E30. It literally has over a half-million miles on it and still looks near new. My Z4 and E46 both have them too. It comes in either tall or short.

I actually prefer the look and shape of the M-sport knob, at least visually. I haven't had the chance to try one however. I ended up just getting the ZHP knob because of all the rave reviews and I like it though it feels a bit curvy and I'm not a huge fan of the M logo.
