Maybe it will look ok in the flesh? I'll have to see. Hopefully it's easy to remove if it does look crap in real life.

Doesn’t bother me. I actually didn’t know they used to be for specific markets!

Here are a couple of pics I took:

I’m not bothered enough to remove them, I actually think they'll reduce the amount of rocks, dirt, etc it’ll kick up to the body.

Plastic fading will be a very real issue though. All our cars with plastic body panels on the outside look dull within a year or two. You can use off the counter sprays to bring them back to factory finish, but based on my experience it doesn’t stay that way for long.

Interesting indeed. It appears the LCI F90 M5 also has these affixed to the rear wheel arches.

I know i read about these in another post, but now i cant find it.

Are these just an additional plastic piece that is held in with the arch liner push pins? I cant find anything in the parts catalogue (being a new addition). Im not a fan from what ive seen in pics so far. - Dont have a car yet too look -

MR has pictures on an M2CS. He says they are standard on all 2021s.

No worries, that's small potatoes; it'll come off and dump in the trash, easy ..

There must be a purpose for these as BMW had to spend extra money to change the part. Anyone have any idea?

I agree, but do we know it's part of the wheel liner mould? It would more likely be a new separate plastic add on piece wouldn't it?

I've tried looking at the parts catalogue, but it's not referenced yet.

Hi Dooba97,

Is it possible for you take a photo of the inner liner to see how the fender lip is mounted? just wondering if it is a extra strip or is it part of the liner itself.

Thank you !

I've asked the kind gentlemen above to confirm for us! let's hope it is a removable piece over changing out the whole liner

Guys, it is all homologation based! 70 countries are enforcing new rules on the subject of tire noise and tire positioning. With the tires more in the wheel arches you will have less noise, etc, etc, etc...

Those 70 countries are all enforcing different regulations. There is not one common rule or set up! Therefore some gandalf at BMW came up with one solution to rule them all.

Removal is easy. It is one screw and there are off. They are not integrated as far as I heard into the existing wheel arches.

Shmarc, you made my day.

I'm currently jubilant hearing this , if it's not one screw removable I am going to send you the unpaid invoice for the pre 21 liner

If I was you, at delivery, I would take some tools with me, remove it and hand it right back to the dealer..

I did that once, with a shift-knob, when I was picking up a brand new car and the salesperson was confused but amused

If it's just one screw, one would think they are fairly flimsy. The Germans aren't usually the one screw does the trick type. Hope so, as it would be great to get them off quickly for better pics during my ED this fall!
